I have purchased a gen 2 prius this week and noticed a push button switch under the steerign wheel.
There are places for 3 swtiches in this location, and the middle slot there is this switch that i dont know what it is or does.
There is no reference to it in the owners manual either.

It is a push button switch, and it doesnt lock in when pressed. No icon illuminates on the dash anywhere.
The switch has an icon / diagram of a vehicle shape with something that looks like WiFi lines from small to large pointing from the roof to the floor.
    I am at a loss.

Any ideas of what you may think this swtich operates please.

By the way it is a T4 model.

    Thanks.

Probably the tire pressure monitor reset switch.

What year is the vehicle and is it a UK spec Prius or a JDM grey import?

What options are on the vehicle?

Unlikely on a UK spec vehicle.

He gents, gosh they were very quick replies... thanks.

    Its a UK spec 2003 (53 plate) T4 gen 2 prius.

Not sure if its a standard options t4 but it has got cruise control, has NOT got bluetooth or sat nav.

Thanks for your vey speedy help

Ah, I think I may have worked it out. I have the gen3 and mine has a similar switch up near the rear view mirror. It turns the interior movement sensor off on the alarm. The alarm and imobiliser can be set but the interior movement detector can be switched off. Ideal if you leave a window down slightly or if you leave a kid or dog inside when you pop into the shops.

That's a little uncalled for. Did you not read the OP's post that you quoted stating that there was not a reference to the button in the owner's manual?

We miss out on all the good features:

    Mirror signal lights
    Manual leveling headlights
Now an alarm with motion sensors?

Hi Grumpy, and all the other posters,

Thanks for all your prompt replies. I shall check that in the morning buddy.

Any good tips for the well being of the vehicle as i am new to this venture. It has got full service history, and 66ooo mile recorded, and it is in very good nick fair play.
I have been learning how to pulse and glide today.
I have also purchased an Enginer 4kwh plug in kit too, but not fitted it yet. I dont plan on using the ev button much, want to try to stealth drive it mostly. Going to fit the kit early next week and report back.

    Once again, Thank you.
