My first fuel up!

    Just fueled up for the first time yesterday. I was hoping to get 450 miles out of the tank.. I came close, but once the last fuel bar started blinking, I stopped by the gas station.

    411 miles

    Filled up with ~8.5 gallons
    50.5 MPG indicated
    48.4 MPG calculated
    (I am tracking w/Fuelly)

    Overall, I am very impressed. I have a short commute (just under 10 miles) to work. I might make a slightly longer trip (20m) once or twice per week. I've never driven a hybrid before, so I'm adjusting to the learning curve. Patiently waiting for my c to break-in, and looking forward to the warmer weather. It's already too cold (for me) here in NC.

    This is such a drastic improvement over my last car (1998 Integra w/230k miles).. I was getting about 25mpg on my daily commute.. Down from about 30mpg when I had a longer drive to work (which was mainly highway driving).

    I'm not taking the highway to work anymore, which saves me 6 miles/day. And it's also much less stressful. I enjoy slowing down.

    Already doing much better on this tank.. Had a 73mpg and 65mpg trip today!

    Awesome. You'll soon forget how the fuel pump works. LOL Even worse, you'll forget which side is the filler neck.

    Enjoy the new C. I am on my 3rd tank of gas, getting about 50 mpg. and if it wasn't for the shitty uphill parts of the commute, I'd be clocking much better mileage.

    Without any doubt. Something on the 'teg would break every 2 months. Thankfully, they were all small things (a rear brake was 'seized', a coolant hose somewhere broke, shift lock solenoid, plug wires, exhaust pipe broke in half)... But the car made odd noises and had a very minor engine leak that wasn't fully resolved with a new valve cover gasket. I am so much more at ease now.

    I'm in a similar situation, though with much less problems with my car. My '93 Toyota Corolla just broke 250K and I think that it will go another 30K more. Granted if I save up enough to buy a c, I will end its journey sooner. Cant wait till that day, but as for now I am envious (y). If only the c could be a manual transmission, I will miss driving one :cry: (but air conditioning will be a plus). Nice MPG numbers btw!

    I am also in NC and I swear it feels like the weather dropped 20 degrees today alone! My prius will be with me 2 weeks on Monday, but I'm already at 1100 miles because of my treacherously long commute... As the car has been breaking in I've been seeing an increase in mpg but now that the weather is seriously dropping I'm worried it might go back down again slightly!

    "Luckily" for you, your long commute should negate the colder temperatures.

    And yes, it was frickin freezing out there today! I was not a happy camper!

    What color is your c?? Your pictures looks awesome!!

    I don't have the c, it's the regular prius in blizzard pearl. I actually originally went to the dealer expecting to buy a c in summer rain metallic. They didn't have the color I had my heart set on, but instead had quite a few of the regular Prius for a really good deal so that's what I ended up with. I chose the blizzard pearl to match my iPhone and iPad (for lack of a better way to make this kind of a decision... Lol).

    Wow, I should have noticed that! I dig the headlights on the regular Prius. The color just caught me off guard!

    My 2nd choice would have been the 3G Prius.. But the c stole my heart.

    Your c looks quite sharp in that super white color! I love white cars... my last car was a white Jeep Patriot. They always look clean to me (at least from a safe distance :))

    Thanks! It's the moonglow color. I like the shimmer to it. But she needs to be washed already.. I can see dirt!! My dealership has free car washes for life.. I just don't know if it's a 'safe' wash for the car/finish..

    I've never had a white car before.. Never really liked them. But it just looks sharp on the c. I was actually very close to getting the Absolutely Red... That's a color to get you noticed!! But having driven a red car for the last year and a half, it was time for a change. Plus, I've never had the same color twice! Black, blue, red, white! :)

    I live in Cary. I commute a little less than 10 miles to RTP.

    How about you?

    I'm really close to you... I live right by Crabtree :)

    I also get free car washes for life! I bought my car at Fred Anderson on Glenwood. They were pretty awesome! Also, I'm jealous of your commute. My company is based in Raleigh but I drive up to Henderson and Oxford on a daily basis to see my clients. It's rough (though not as rough with the Prius as it was with my Jeep!)

    Awesome! I just bought a whole mess of furniture today at Rooms to Go. And I used to work on Glenwood.. at Easter Seals. That traffic was irritating.. There's some housing tucked away back there that's really nice though.

    And wow, that's a commute..!! I just moved out to Cary to cut my commute in half. That probably extended the life of my Integra.. She's currently looking for a new home. :)

    My dealer is Hendrick Toyota in Apex. It's only a couple miles from my house.. Fred Anderson wasn't a USAA car buying service dealer, so I never considered it.

    It's always nice to 'meet' a local. I spot Prii everywhere these days. It's a fun game. :)

    Oh and apparently we're going to freeze over tonight! I just needed a reason to not do my grocery shopping in the morning. It'll have to wait until at least midday!

    Glenwood traffic is awful. I also bought all my furniture at various furniture stores on Glenwood. And then I went and bought my car on Glenwood. I hate that everywhere I need to go is always located on Glenwood!
