Though I'd share some info that I found... Here is a Wifi driver and the install instructions for WinCE 6.0... Road Rover and OttoNavi are WinCE 6.0...

The wifi device is still available and I've ordered the USB Wifi adapter in the post/picture....

Was toying with the MP3 files in my OttoNavi.
It was taking a while to load my MP3s from the USB disk when I started up. 325 files took about 20-30 seconds.
Then it took an additional 20-30 seocnds for the gui to replace the filenames in the list with the Tag information.

    Then I ran the files through a MP3 error check application called "MP3Diags" ( http://mp3diags.sourceforge.net/ )
This application found errors/extra information in just about all the MP3 files I had.
I fixed all that were reported except for the "normalization" and "IDxV" information.
Well I must say there is a HUGE loading speed difference.

Less than 10 seconds now to load all the files and load the tag information. :)

Check your files if you are having slow loading speeds. My MP3 files showed no troubles from the playing side.

PS.. Also found out that the gui does not like certain formats of "jpg"... found that the "jpeg" files load correctly.. check them and modify them with "MP3Tag" and "Creevity MP3 Cover downloader"

I am using Hobdrive via USB/BT dongle on my RR IAI7037V2.

    I ordered the
Super Mini ELM327 V1.5 OBD2 OBDII Bluetooth OBD Car Diagnostic Tool
and und connected it to a mumbi Nano Bluetooth Dongle Mini USB-Adapter Class2 EDR V2.0 100m
    http://www.amazon.de/mumbi-Bluetooth-Dongle-USB-Adapter-Class2/dp/B002T4E7L8

I have added the OBD2 to the list of trusted devices at first.

Now a device OBD2ECU showed up in the OBD2 port settings menu, I selected it and entered 1234 as the ELM pin and left BT service num empty.

The status changed to yellow, an engine starting sound was played and the indicator turned green. It worked...

    Hope this helps

Ren001, Great info. I'm currently working on installing a wifi stick and a FTDI OBD reader. I have one of those Super Mini OBD readers, gonna have to try one of those mumbi bluetooth dongles... Do you have any steps fo installing the Mumbi on the OttoNavi?

So here's what happened to me and messed up my unit. I'm hoping someone can help.
My unit is running WinCE 6

In trying to replace the startup logo, I accidentally loaded my SD card with a file named "logoxjp.bmp"
I quickly realized my mistake and properly loaded a file called "logo.bmp", but the damage has been done. Now everytime I boot my system, the correct file shows on system startup, but main menu screen thinks it should be the "logoxjp.bmp" file and so instead of seein the main menu screen on startup (with all the icons for DVD, radio, etc), my screen shows the date and time, AC UI across the bottom, but also the the logoxjp.bmp file...which it should not show at all.

The only way I can fix this is to click on the "Music" button or various other physical buttons, until the unit "wakes up" and realizes that the screen that should show when you press the "Menu" button should be the screen with all the icons, not the car logo.

This is really frustrating. I've dug into CE to try and find that logoxjp.bmp file to no avail. It's like it got sucked into some ini or dll file or something. It's just gone.

I also don't know if I just need to replace a file somewhere, overwrite something, or edit a file.

Can anyone help at all. This was my stupid mistake, but I never would have thought it would have caused this annoying problem.

    thanks.

You might want to try to download REGEDIT.EXE for WinCE (searchable throught google on loads of locations)
Place that file on your SD or USB drive.
Open your OttoNavi GUI and navigate to the Menu Screen and goto System.
Notate the current NAVI Path.... then click browse and point the NAVI path to the Regedit.exe
Now when you press the NAVI button you will open the Regedit application...
Search for your logoxjp.bmp.... Should be in there somewhere...
when finished just go back to the NAVI path and set it back to the old iGo executable...

I'm assuming that when you say dug into CE you've looked around the static drives.... "NAND FLASH" and "StaticStore"

Another option is to contact OttoNavi and ask them if they have a flash image that you can reload.. OttoNAvi support has been great for me so far...

You could also try going to the OttoNavi site and goto downloads, there is Update Utility there that "might" re-flash your OttoNavi ...

Alright.. This is too good not to share...:)

You can download a RoadRover Emulator. (OttoNavi)
RoadRoverEmulator_v1.1.zip - roadrover - RoadRover WinCE Image version 1.1 - Reverse engineering of RoadRover software and new tool creation - Google Project Hosting

Then goto your OttoNavi device and copy the entire "Static Store" and "NAND FLASH" to your USB or SD drive.
This copy will also serve as a basic backup of your OttoNavi. Not complete but enough to restore the basic functions.

In your RoadRoverEmulator directory there is a folder called "SD". This is the "Storage Card" folder that is available in the RoadRoverEmulator. Copy both the "NAND FLASH" and "Static Store" to this "SD" folder.

    Open the RoadRover Emulator
    open "My Device"
    open "Storage Card"
open your copied "Static Store" folder
    open the I9 folder
    then run the "Manager" application

If you have gotten this far you should see your OttoNavi system running on your PC....

And YES the MP3 player does work....

    hello guys,

I´m new here and find this site very informative.

My Question is, how can I change the functions of the Hardware Keys
(a.e: long Press on seek+ opens calculator or seek- opens explorer a.s.o)?
Which Programs need I for WinCE and how is it to make?

Thanks for your helpfully answers :)

I am definitely not an artist and was wondering if there is a site out there where people upload their original skins for free or for purchase for the Ottonavi HU.

I'm surprised we don't see more made available (but I'm sure a complete skin takes a lot of work/time to complete and people may not want to give them away). I'd pay $20 an for excellently laid out new skin if it made the iPod controls easier to use. I'm sure others would too.

You might want to look at this site:

    China-RNS.com

Our German friends have been very good at keeping a list of firmware updates and creating new skins for the Roadrover unit. (Ottonavi is just the reseller in the USA).

You will probably have to register first to get access. But it's free.

I am having a hard time finding the home screen to check what version firmware i have. Also I don't have the big clock as displayed on the earlier posts. My nav unit came with the car as standard for level 4. Is this thread only for ones purchased through ottonavi as an 'aftermarket'?

This thread is for the "OttoNavi" or "Road Rover" head units.

The factory nav system I believe is covered elsewhere in this forum.

Successfully installed my USB FTDI OBD reader today. Wooo Hooo.
Search for ARMv4VCPDriver60.zip extract and place those files in a directory called
    \NAND FLASH\FTDI
Plug in your USB FTDI OBD Device and when it asks for the name of the usb device
    enter \NAND FLASH\FTDI\FTDI_SER
I use a application called DEVMGMT.EXE and verfied that the Serial driver was installed.. Mine appeared on COM6:
Used PUTTY.EXE and connected via Serial COM6: @ 38400 and bingo ATDP returned the proper OBD response.

FYI: There are a TON of serial com ports configured on the OttoNavi wonder what they all do? Can we inject signals?

Most of them are used for communication between MCU and Windows processor side.
Like COM2 for Manager.exe, COM4 is for Phone I think and COM5 iPod, etc.

I believe it's possible to spy on them and may be even overtake them.
But first you will need to figure out te protocol they are using...

If we do succeed in cracking that protocol then we can rewrite the whole thing altogether; not just the UI.

There is a much easier way to enter Windows desktop:
Unpack this tiny tool (genuine Roadrover) into root of your memory card navigate to menu screen "System" and click "Update". The UI will be terminated immediately aud you see the Windows desktop. There you can run every app you want and navigate to every folder you need.
