So, How Many 220V Chargers So Far?

    I'm using 240v. Sent my EVSE in for upgrade months ago. 110/120 is too slow.

    I used 110v at home (actually it is ~115v) and 220 at work via Charge Point. There are about 10,013 charging spots according to their web site. Blink has 2645 according to their site. I think these guys publish numbers that don't include private home chargers.

    I'm currently using the stand 110 but plan to upgrade to the 240 in a few months.

    110v seems plenty fast for my uses since the battery is so small. Most of the time it only takes a couple of hours to top it off. If I eventually get another EV vehicle then I will upgrade to 220v.

    I use a 240V EVSE at home, and my portable 120V EVSE one at work. Allegedly they're replacing the old legacy chargers at work with new ones, but they've been promising that for 4 or 5 months...

    My car sits for up to 10 hours at work and at home. That means up to 14 hours a day it is sitting around plugged in doing nothing. The battery capacity will have to be at least greater than 3x it's current size before I bother with upgrading from the standard 110. I really wished that the PiP had the same battery capacity as the Volt. I'd gladly give up trunk space for greater EV range.

    you can get a 20 mile add on from pis, takes very little space.

    i just got the OPEN EVSE from mitch672. $500. and it's good for 30 amps down the road. i put my toyota evse in the back and charged at work for the first time. now i'm back to all electric like summertime.:)

    Heheh, obviously not, but the federal government rebate would be $7500 if the battery were the same capacity as the Volt. So true costs would be $5000. I'd pay that. I admit though, i'm probably in the minority.

    so i just wasted like an hour of my life reading all those pages, but i do not know, horror story? the whole lawyer thing is kind of intense and over-the-top, but that's the only red flag i'm seeing there, and it looks like it got resolved. it seems that the biggest issue by far is the long lead time and lack of any real publicly-available documentation. it's also clear that he's stretched very thin.

    And after you spend the extra $5k, you have to spend another $1,400 on a decent EVSE. Then if you want to take advantage of cheaper charging, you have to pay to get another meter run to a dedicated line. Not sure what it costs others, but my uncle said Edison wanted $4,000 to run a line for his tesla, but I don't know how complex his job was comparatively.

    I sent my 120v stock Toyota EVSE in for 240v upgrade last week- they got it in CA yesterday- hopefully I'll get it back this week for 240v charging at home...:)

    Does anyone know the amperage for the 240V? Trying to determine the gauge of wire (most likely 12 AWG) for the 240V for the plug that I am going to install. Going to send my stock EVSE for the upgrade.

    Well since you don't say how long your run is, it's impossible to say what guage wire to use with real accuracy. However, why go cheep? Run a nice heavy 12 or 10 guage and that way, if the next gen's on board charger is 2x as powerful, you'll still be good to go. All you'll have to do is slap a bigger breaker into your service panel. ;)

    On a different note, since 120v is appx 10%-15% less efficient than 240v, using 120v effectively wastes juice. That said, I'm charging 120v here at work ... but that's all they offer.

    the breaker is 20 amp, the car charger will only pul 12 amps so 12g is fine for most household applications. if you're making a really long run, you might want to use 10g.
