I had a great success getting the Drone Mobile remote starter/alarm system with a 2 way Compustar Pager installed.

Everything works, I can remote start the Prius anywhere in the world as long as I have data internet connection. It will start the car for 15 minutes before shutting down, upon opening the door, the car will shut off and you will have to restart it to get it running again. However, the warm up should already cool or heat up your car, depending on your settings.

I installed window sensors, so if someone tried to break any one of my windows, it will trigger the alarm to go off, even the tiny mirror in the rear passenger windows can be picked up.

It was a very clean install, and they sauder all the wiring etc...

They even integrated the alarm system with my horn, so it makes it impossible for the thief to steal a deck or a navigation system, as they will go DEAF if they even get a chance to do so.

I got it professionally installed at Soundworks, Burnaby, BC, Canada

these guys know what they are doing and did a A+ job on the installation, installation cost about $440 and they were really helpful and showed how everything worked in the end.

    Thanks again !!!

all the parts came out to around $375 cause I purchased them all separately online. Seems kind of steep but I`m happy with it overall :)

Are they an authorized CompuStar installer? If not, you'll be screwed when it comes to warranty claims. If they are, I'm surprised they were willing to install parts you didn't buy from them.

I do hope you didn't install the motion sensor, it's a POS, and I ended up disabling the sensor.

FYI, if anyone does want this info, check out the 12volt forums, one of the most popular car electronics installer forums out there, tons of info can be found there (or you can start your own thread).

How is the Drone Mobile working out? Just had the Toyota remote start installed. Works if you are standing next to the car but doesn't work more than 100 ft away, I guess remote is a relative term to Toyota. Expensive lesson.

Looking at Drone Mobile to get a true remote start.

Just basic remote start from the house is all I need. How does the car receive the signal from the cell phone? Is a box installed that is always on? Won't that drain battery?

Doesn't the Drone Mobile module have to be powered up all the time to receive a signal? And what signal does it get? Does it have a cell phone number. Drone Mobile web site doesn't really explain how it works.

I see Drone Mobile requires a CompuStar or other modules installed....but they don't say who they get a signal either. They've got to be using battery power somehow.

Quoted $640 for installing the CompuStar module and DroneMobile module that works on top of it.

I'll give the Toyota remote start ($600...ugh) a few tries before I drop another $600. The Toyota remote start will turn the car on from my upstairs window. Won't turn it off, unlock it or lock it. No other remote signal works at all from that distance, 100 ft line of sight. No money back from Toyota. They say "It works" which it does under 50 ft away.

FYI, Drone Mobile uses the AT&T network (GSM). I would guess the battery impact is minimal since it is basically an extremely basic cellphone.

    From their FAQ:
Is DroneMobile compatible with 2G data coverage?
A: Yes, DroneMobile will work on iPhones that run on AT&T's Edge Network.

As for your existing system, something which has worked for me many times is to hold your remote starter fob against your chin, it will extend the range a little (have used this trick many times, especially when my battery was low).
