Nice thanks for the info. Its crazy to me that these are apparently great units and there is barely any user opinions out there. Usually people have no problem sharing opinions. Myself included :)

I think that's just because it so new.
They don't appear to have a 10 inch version, but that would be bigger to be acoustically correct.

It appears to have a machined aluminum finish.. "nice" but keep it out of direct sunlight.

I just keep my rear compartment cover on so "looky lous* can't see what's back there... Helps acoustics too.

Most likely to sound is best pointed backwards towards the rear hatch as this allows more distance for the low frequencies to form before it hits the listeners ears.

It takes about 20 feet to get a fully formed wave on the 70 hz range.

Regardless, I bet it sounds just fine laying flat pointed upwards. Maybe mount some disconnect latches for easy removal in times of serious cargo needs.

It may fit in the secret compartment too but if so allow for heat/ventilation issues.

Maybe cutting a plyboard covered in felt would fit against the back seats and mount to that for easy removal.

Whichever model I get I plan on it going under the passenger seat. So thats also a consideration I have to keep in mind. But both of these seem to be about 4inches tall which SHOULD fit.

Passenger seat really? I would literally make me a box out of ply board the exact dimensions and put it under there and see what happens especially when you move the seat around before I purchased if that doesn't work take the same box and try other places to you decide what you like

Well its not ideal, but I don't want to modify any parts of the car, and I want it to be hidden away. Like i mentioned I dont want to eat up cargo space, or have to move it out of the way when I need the cargo space. I haul stuff frequently so it would be a huge pain to move it every time.

Go look again at your backseat and see how its angles inward.
A box rectangular in size could be placed on its long edge with this speaker pointing back towards the rear hatch back and it may not eat at any real cargo space, at least 4 objects that sit upright

Another consideration is if it fits in the secret cargo space low frequencies permeate really well but you would need some ventilation.

I have no holes drilled in the floorboard cargo space only in the bottom tray of the secret compartment where my amp is mounted and I have had no issues with heat

I will check out the secret space this evening. As far as the cargo room. I lay my seats down to haul stuff so I would have to remove or move them each time. I haul at least 1 large amp, couple guitars, music stand, etc...

Make sure you let us know your solution and how it worked, there could be many others looking for the same solution.

Not real easy getting someone to build a custom case that's tuned right, then adding the amps and/or crossover *usually built into the amp nowadays ".

Lots of prius guys that love good tunes that don't want to literally tear out everything and start over & spend a ton. Like I said, the existing system is pretty nice, just needs more lows.

Will do. My dad does a lot with woodworking. I talked with him and he is going to build be a box with the dimensions of each. Will report back when/if I make a decision and how it works.

    No 10" ???

What about the link I posted earlier in this thread?
    Focal Bus25....... 1" = 25.4mm==> 10"= 25.4cm.....that's why it's called the Bus25!

They look promising, I can't tell what wattage nor quality of wattage, but it takes more punch to satisfy 10"... Looks there is only 1 speaker so there shouldn't be any risk of pulling too much juice from the prius 12v inverter output.

The inverter could probably handle two just fine too but not sure if two would fit.
There wouldn't be any difference in sound, just "feel".

I would like to hear some customer reviews before I ordered from Germany though.

Have you considered sound deadening at all? I know your looking for a speaker upgrade and it seems like you found the right guy to talk to, but I know after I did the doors in my car it was a significant increase. The speakers that are in the car are very capable of delivering quality sound but with resonating panels and road noise you would never know

I agree sound proofing would remove a lot of the completion for frequency space, however to a musician or music lover, the system does need help in the low end.
The lows of a 5 string bass... Freqs around 60-70hz just aren't there.
