My Tivo (2 tuner HD) draws 36 watts in stby and 38 when on. I put in a 1/2 watt digital timer that turns it on for just the ~6 hours* of interest for me. The few times I want to record something outside that time I just slide a switch on the timer to keep it on.

    * actually I have it come on 15 min before to make sure it reboots OK. Then the stupid Tivo startup video comes on when I first turn it on...one button click and it is gone. The Tivo is smart enough to collect the EPG around this power on/off cycle and also will rechedule some shows based on this when they have multiple showings because it thinks it is recovering from a power outage.

you watt misers need to do some time shifting of your electrical loads.

power all those loads using off-peak power stored from the early morning and disconnect from the grid during the daytime peak. :)

The 25w number is for a Premier (Series 4). My Series 3 TiVo pulls 38w when on, just like your HD. With all the junk patent lawsuits going around, it is worth noting that one the things TiVo has patents on is ways to minimize power consumption in its DVRs.

When I moved to TOU metering, I went around the house with my Kill-a-Watt, and found all sorts of 24/7 drains. Some of those little wall warts can be real pigs, while others pull essentially nothing when the device is not plugged in to it.

I set up a low-tech, low-cost charging solution that is working well. We have a garage that's too full of junk to park the PiP in. The garage has wired boxes on the unfinished walls. I re-wired one of them with a GFCI protected, switched receptacle to plug the PiP cord into. I also plugged in a low-wattage neon nightlight to let me and others know when the power switch is on; the EVSE power light is just too dim to be of much use. Until I clean the garage out enough to park the car inside, I charge in the driveway. I love the long cord! Anyway, I turn the power ON when I charge the car, OFF when I unplug it. The car emails me when it's done charging -- love that feature with the Advanced. Hell, I've gotta have some bragging rights after getting gouged like that. See attached pics.
