Don't we all. VW must think consumers are stupid. They are saying Diesel is the future as we are on the cusp of the EV revolution. I think that can be comparable to when the Model T came out the horse and buggy company saying the horse is the future.

I remember when diesel was the future until they added sulfur and made it a dollar more gallon a gallon than regular gas which removes any gas mileage savings in your pocket book

you mean removed sulfur? all diesel is supposed to have ultra low sulfur.

VW has an EV in the works. I drove one at a market research event 2-3 months ago.

Yep, then it was gonna be propane / natural gas, we can't even measure all we have, and stock values are in the toilet.
So far big oil has managed to block efforts to be freed from their clutches.

I guess I owned vast acres full of gold I would not want them to make gold obsolete and of little value... That's "black Gold... Texas Tea!"

Just tell them that you are so bored that you dont know where to spend all the money you are saving in gas! Let's say I'm saving $250 driving my Prius C, people say I look funny coming out of the car 5-10" 225 pounds, I don't care, I may look funny when the money comes out of my atm to pay for gas....which now I only fill up 3 times a month!!!Love my C.

    What?
Are you fishing for compliments here?
Do you really need to be told what vehicle you own or drive or purchase has nothing to do with how boring you may or may not be?

You bought not 1 but 2 Prius.

A lot of my "exciting" friends are too boring and locked into their dogma to even consider looking at Hybrid. They buy the standard Sedan or the Cookie Cutter Truck. IMO...that's boring.

Prius has become much, much more mainstream over the past decade, but it's still IMO an exciting choice for anyone to make for a vehicle.

In a world dominated with regular ICE's.....Hybrid Synergy Drive is exciting.

But you knew that already didn't you?

There is nothing boring being in a state of synergy.

When I am stopped in a traffic jam, I can't help but think: "Look at all those cars out there wasting gasoline with their idling engines. How primitive!" :)

    Yeah, the beast! :p

Synergy will feel primitive once full EV finally takes hold with quick easy recharge options... Maybe 5 - 10 years depending on how the public grabs on.

Guys he mentioned in the original post that he uses the carpool lane. Can't blame him with that long of a commute.

    Same boat, wife has a 2011 IV and i have a 2012 PiP/AT...

Prior to these all our cars were high HP, race cars. Times change, people wise up.

Our next car will very likely be a 2nd gen PiP if they get to the 40+ EV range. But after going to the LA Autoshow the other week and seeing the Lexus version of the prius... Damn if they did a Lexus Plug In version of it i would jump on that.

it already is. I have seen quite a few of them around me. I'm just saying if the Lexus varient had 40 mile EV range it would be in my garage right now...

Well, it's the Lexus Prius from a power plant standpoint, but not an interior standpoint. That car is significantly smaller.
