To all those who will tell me to read the previous discussions, I already did that. So don't tell me that. Some people in the forums commented "it worked" but the "it" was not anywhere to be found. I guess they were communicating privately.

Nothing that was suggested in the forum so far works with my car. I agree with the others that it's not in the manual. Do I need to return to the dealer to get it changed?

I hope someone knows the answer to this and will post it in the forums and not keep it a secret...

Happened to me right after I got the car. Someone posted it here on the forum, which setting to go to and that worked. It is late here now so can't go look. There is a setting in there somewhere though. If you dont get it tonight I will check it in the morning and get back to you.

Ken, I bet this is location specific, so it will help to know what continent and country you are in.

Check your manual page 188 about middle of the page: "ODOMETER".

Even though the manual states the functions of the Odometer/Trip meter pretty clearly, I can see why some might have misunderstood the part about changing from MPH to KM/H, and why this question comes up so often.

To spell it out: You must be in odometer mode ("odo" on the display) to switch between MPH and KM/H. Once in that mode, press and hold the Trip button until you see it change.

When you first get the car you are anxious to test the MPG so you probably use one or both of the trip meters often, and switch back and forth from them to the Odometer mode just to see how things work. The chances of holding the Trip button down too long, thinking you are in one of the Trip modes, are high during this stage of getting to know the vehicle. I know I did it more than once :).

I suppose at some point we can start thinking about putting together a c-centric FAQ forum sticky, now that we are starting to see what the FAQs are. This question would definitely be nominated for inclusion. :)

This happened to me last week, had to pull out the manual in the parking lot to figure it out. :)

I tried the above and it didn't work on my 2012 Prius-c. But I called the dealer and a clever salesman figured part of it out. Here is how I got it to change on my Prius-c:

You have to have the key turned on but the engine off (don't step on the brake). Then you have to press BOTH the trip and the down-arrow next to it. That was how I was finally able to change to MPH.

I did this and it switched right away in less than a second. The Trip button alone did not change it on my car even after holding for 20 seconds.

Now, that is interesting. Had me wondering so I went out and checked mine. Key on, ODO mode, hit trip button and it goes to kph then back to mph. And, back and forth as long as I hold the trip button. So much discussion this time around I think even a 58 year old man can remember it next time.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Perhaps I should have stated the the obvious - that the car needs to be on. But the rest of your process seems pretty odd. Just holding Trip works for me, with engine on or off. I guess it's not totally out of the question that the 2 would have a different procedure than the 3 for this. Oh well - the important part is that you figured out how to do it.

Mine is a 2 and it works with just the trip button.

Based on the OP's post in the Main C forum, and what he describes here, I think he may have a glitch in his electronics somewhere.

I followed Ken Gross' method (key on, engine off, do not brake, press both the "trip" and the down arrow), but it did not work on my 2013 Prius C 2.
Please tell me how to get to "odometer mode."

    Its in the owners manual.
Put the mileage display in odometer not trip and hold the trip button down, It will cycle back and forth between mph and kph. release the button when the desired units are displayed.

Here's the page from my 2012 manual; I don't think it's changed in later model years:
