I received it as a gift for Christmas lol and I never used it before. But I was told by a friend of mine it ruins your wipers. I've never heard anything bad about it before.
But isn't the point of rainx not to use your wipers?

There are TONS of threads on here about it. I have been using it for 25 years and love it, along with MANY other users on here. I call BS on it ruining your wipers, it never has mine. Hell, I only change my wipers once each year since more often than not I don't need to run the wipers as much the way water beads up and flys off the windshield using rain-x.

I live in the great Pacific Northwest and I've used Rain-X for a long, long time.

In my opinion any rumors of it hastening wiper deterioration are totally unfounded, infact I would argue the exact opposite. Rain-X allows less usage of same said wipers, and I believe makes the wipers more efficient when I am using them. I use my wipers a lot, and I can typically get at least 2 years out of a set. If that's shortened life? I'm okay with it.

I like Rain-X as a product. The only thing to be aware of is that IMO it really needs to be re-applied about every 2 weeks. Your useage may vary, but during the winter when it rains, snows, ices...I find that to maintain the best benefit I need to apply about every 2 weeks.

I use the Rain-X family of washer fluids and they extend Rain-X applications tremendously, so much so that generally once I apply a coat or Rain-X the day I buy a vehicle, I need not reapply except maybe once more in the 3 years I own the car. Yes, to have the absolute best benefit it helps to reapply it more often but honestly, it works just as well for me applying and using the washer fluids they make to maintain it.

How many applications can you get out of the typical 16-ounce bottle?

Thats what I would like to know. It doesn't say how often to apply it.

Let me put it this way. I have a 16 oz. bottle from 10 years ago with a few ounces (maybe 2-3) still left. Keep in mind, that is with using rainx washer fluid inbetween as my washer fluid for summer/winter use.

Have to do it above 40 degrees so it will be a while before I can apply mine.

Let me just add how in the old days the bottle had a 'spout' which kind of poured the product onto the windshield. Then they came out with rain x in a bottle which sprayed it onto the windshield in a mist. I have not had the need to buy the original product in 10 years since using their washer fluid suffices for reapplication for me, but go for the bottle which mists the product if still made IMO. You'll use less which means the purchase will last years longer.

Looks like the 16-oz bottle has a sprayer/mister.

I spray it onto the windshield and rub it in with a paper towel in small circular motions. Do half the windshield with a spray, say drivers side, rub in. Then do passenger side. Once it hazes get a clean rag, paper towel, micro fiber etc and buff out. Expect some hazing even after buffing once dry but it will go away once it rains and you wash the car, it isn't a big deal. Then I suggest using their washer fluids for appropriate seasons only because they work well and really do extend life of the product. You'll see, water beads helping improve driving at all speeds and at highway speeds, water just blows off.

That's how it was when it came out, still no problem. Just pop open and at the top of the windshield from say the rear view mirror to one side of the car make squirt a line across. As it drips down, just use a paper towel to rub it into the glass. Keep buffing it in with small circular motions from the top down. If you see no hazing just squirt a quick small squirt. Then, do the other side. Let it all haze dry and buff out. If it still streaks, don't worry after a rain or car washing session it goes away. Then still do all the other windows and even the side view mirrors.

I use it on my shower doors too. Works quite well and keeps my wife happy.
