Consumer Reports MPG Result For 2013 Fusion & C-Max Hybrids!

    The service order is still open at the dealer until I report back with results.

    In the meantime I contacted Ford CS, I find this to be BS. They cant put 1 & 2 together.
    1 Complaining about poor gas mileage, with records, and history of being able to obtain decent miles in a Hybrid
    2 carbon fouled plugs after 4500 miles and CEL caused by misfires due to fouled plugs

    To me that would raise a flag as to my first complaint. Instead they are relying on the data coming from the cars computer, which for all intent and purposes it incorrect to begin with.

    So they can fudge the numbers and get away with it because the EPA has no means to verify! Nice

    Yes and no. They can try to cook the numbers but in the end they will pay for it when consumers get angry. :)

    Yeah... quite disturbing if ABG is right. So... even if the EPA reruns the test, they can't validate an apparently important input to the test...

    Dont you think it ironic though that the EPA tests are done on pure gas and not the EPA mandated ethanol and additive blends?

    Useful testing requires holding as many variables constant as possible and gasoline is one. Otherwise, the results would vary so much that no one could ever trust the results.

    Since the majority of the country uses E10, then that is the blend they should test with. Regardless of what additives are used in various locations, the E10 should be fairly consistent.

    But wait, we are talking about a Government Agency, where common sense is a running joke.

    Absolutely, they should be doing pollution and mileage tests with E10. It does gets some water in it, so it is not as consistent as straight gasoline, but we all need to live with that.

    Before you get too upset with EPA testing though, compare it to other government tests. The epa does a much better job. We can not really expect government to give us 100% accurate results. EPA does take many things into consideration though that consumer reports does not.

    If this were the only comment:
    I would fault the 'sensitive' accelerator. But one of our CMAX posters has done the cruise control test and reports still getting no better than 38 MPG. Add to that the nearly flat 38 MPG below 65 mph and something else may be going on. I don't have a CMAX so I have no way to diagnose the problem . . . but then this is 'PriusChat.'

    Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder. After enough it might be good looking to some.

    Funny how many people beat up the volt for that.. 38mpg is not that bad... if you spend 60-70% of the time on EV.

    But at least the C-MAX has a good starting price.

    lol, it looks better in real life than it does on the web, but I agree. Hey some people think the leaf is good looking:(

    I don't think the c-max has any real design problems. It appears to be a well designed CUV.

    Ford has consistently put its foot in its mouth on marketing the beast though. In spite of that and production problems the hybrid and energi are selling well. I will add a footnote though, acdii seems to be getting really bad customer service and seems to have a real problem in his fusion hybrid. I hope that this is limited to a small number of cars.

    Yup. Prius looks sharper and more stylish than C-MAX. Even the Prius v looks better than C-MAX to me.

    Real life is what I was judging it on. I have seen a few around already and they look small. Smaller than the Prius in most cases. It's just a weird shape. Useful but weird. lol

    I agree it looks better than the Leaf though!
