I built a custom enclosure that fits in the right-side cubby. Wires run through the the box walls to the speaker and the HU up front (quite a wad of them).

I just noticed you have a PIP. I wonder if the box is smaller than a non-PIP?

I will have to take some this afternoon... but only if you take some of yours. :) Actually I would like to see how the PIP storage area differs (if it does) from the non-PIP.

Yeah, basically on a PiP, that whole 'underneath' area is battery. You just get the deep pocket immediately in the front like pictured above.

Oh wow, that is much smaller than the non-PIP... by about a 1/3. Still could put amp in there though. :) Do you still want photos of mine?

If you think that is small, you gotta see how small it was on the demo Plug ins... Lol

Its a good thing they improved it for production, cause you just gotta have a hidden storage somewhere.

Agreed, though I would have taken the same small one as the demo car, or none at all, to have more ev range with a larger battery. Once the spare is taken out for the battery in a plug in like the pip, to me, give me range and forego the small nook for storage.

What have I got in there??

Roll of toilet paper (don't leave home without it ;))
A smallish piece of pine board (to create a more solid base if I ever have to use the scissor jack on soft earth)
    A few clean rags
    A collapsible orange/reflective traffic cone
    Lightweight pair of tire stops
    First Aid Kit
    CTEK 3300 battery charger

If we were going on an extended road trip, I'd likely add the following:
    Portable 12 volt power pack
    Plug Repair Kit
    Bicycle Pump
    Jumper cables

In the front I've also got one of those combination flashlight, glass breaker, seat belt cutter, emergeny flasher thingy's, with magnetic base.

Nice! The am would actually probably fit in the plug in as well vertically. I'm wondering if there's anything that can produce decent bass that might fit... And if it drains the electric supply.

I wonder if any powered amp would fit in there at all.

It is hard to tell of course but it looks like the JL 900/5 would fit in there. I will post the dimensions if you want.

    Besides the standard emergency kits with low gauge jumper cables and stuff, I tend to look for 'low profile' items like;

This Sears Craftsman Tire Inflator which I got on sale at Sears for $20 for all those times when I get the Prius back from Toyota Care service with just 32lbs around!

This Black & Decker 300 Amp Jump Starter which I think I got at Lowes or Walmart for $49 on sale. I don't even need 300 amp to jumpstart the Prius, but it's just me and the dome light...sometimes...
