Center caps came in from Thailand - plastic but seem well made. Also got shark fin antenna in from Visual Garage but will ask my wife who has much more patience and ability than I to install. Should be able to post a couple of pics soon with all the minor but unique mods we did to our Prius. The car is great - I wonder what took me so long to come around to buy one!

Hit a deer this morning on the way to work - actually the poor deer hit the driver's side of the Prius causing a couple of minor dents and tore the plastic facia off of th rear bumper. Will take to the body shop next week for estimate and repair.

Be careful right now during rutting season for deer!

Congrats on the car! I bet you're loving the heated seats now. MD is so cool about doing things like that, your green lot. There's parking in front of a few stores for plug-ins in Westminster, almost wish I had a pip model! I think you'll really like the car. This forum is super helpful too.

Just picked up a new 2013 Prius IV. Wife has a 2012 II. Trades an 09 Rav4. I loved the RAV however I'm even happier in the Prius. The Gas mileage is insane! Love the color, the leather, and the sound system. The navigation will have a learning curve, my garmin was easer to use.

Hi Bob - welcome, although I am a newbie as well. No leather in a Prius - it's called SofTex and it's man made -the seat heaters are great too!

    Hi All

I just picked up my new 2012 Prius 4 last night and I am loving as well. Sad to see it go but I had to trade in my 2011 Tacoma TX Pre Runner in (21MPG).

Well my wife is picking up the Tron Pod tonight from the body shop after the deer run into the driver's door (I was doing 70 mph at the time) last Friday.

$1306.00 in damage and 4 days to repair the dents in the driver's door and to replace the rear bumper fascia. Can't wait to get it back!

No - fortunately it "bounced off" of the Prius, but I was in the left lane of a divided highway (with trees in the center) and that poor deer got creamed by all the cars behind me. I called my wife after the accident and she met me halfway home to switch vehicles (Prius for a Tundra), by the time I returned to where the deer was hit, the police were there and the deer was laying dead on the on-ramp. I stopped and the cop asked me what I wanted - I told me I was the one who hit the deer first, he said your truck doesn't look bad, I laughed and said I had switched vehicles - that I hit it, or rather the deer hot me, in my Prius. He said there was nothing to do, that it happens all the time, luckily (other than the deer) no one was injured, etc., so I left and went to work.

As promised a photo of the Tron Pod, minus deer damage - removed hub caps; placed center wheel caps; legal (in MD) window tint, Weather Tech side window deflectors and Visual Garage shark fin antenna. Done - now it's unique!!

Hey Phickson, Nice look on the Prius. What window delectors did you go with and how hard was it to install the shark fin antenna

57 Geronimo -- Weathertech - the only ones to buy as far as I am concerned and go with the light vs the dark tint is my suggestion. I have put them on my last 6 cars I've owned. They are easy to put on. And if one ever falls off (rare) Weathertech will replace for free!

The shark fin antenna we picked up from Visual Garage - works great too - no degrading of the radio reception where I live (except the HD fades in and out which occurs no matter what antenna you have for now - until radio stations fully upgrade to more powerful transmitters).

My wife installed the antenna, she says the prep and getting it straight is the key. She used rubbing alcohol to prep the surface, used a blow dryer, then used tape markers to ensure it's location, peeled off the paper on the gasket to expose the adhesive and plopped it down. She also used a blow dryer to finish it up. We have the solar panel on our Prius and I liked the fact Visual Garage asks you this when you order, other sellers I saw the antenna hangs over the solar panel an inch or two.

    Good morning,
Looks like you have the deflectors that fit in the window channel. I think they definitly look better then the stick on kind but I have some reservations! I've had the stick on kind and never had any issues with them.

Looking at a few other threads, I read about people having issues with the automatic window in the up direction when the window hits the deflector. Kind of like sticking your hand in the window and making it go back down (safety feature). Are you seeing any of the same issues, and if not why do you think you solved the issue?

Thanks for providing such detail and successions on the aftermarket products discussed. The shark fin looks cool.

    Have a great day
    Mike and Tena

    Hi Mike,

Stick-ons are ugly in my opinion - you'll never go back once you buy Weathertech!

The Weathertech side window deflectors are super thin (but strong) especially in the area where it goes into the window channel. Every now and then an automatic window will stop and reverse itself - but rarely does this happen. The deflectors adjust themselves generally or you can adjust it yourself.

I had a 2006 Saab 95 and the right front passenger side Weathertech deflector kept falling out - and it always happened on Route 50 near Annapolis where the speed limit is 65 mph so there was no sense in going back to try to retrieve it from the highway. I complained to Weathertech. They told me they use one car as an example to manufacture all the deflectors for that model of car. They said sometimes a person's car is off just a bit and the fit may not be perfect, causing one of them to fall out or loosen. Also the key is to not operate your windows for 48 hours after the install.

I am going somewhere with this story...so for the last 4 cars I have bought Weathertech deflectors for, I had them shipped to my house then I take them to the local car accessory shop (Trick Trucks in my case) and pay $20.00 to have them professionally installed for me. Since I have done this - I have neither had one fall out nor had an automatic window not work properly. So to me it's been worth it since these guys install them all the time. Plus if I had a problem I would return to them to fix.

On my Prius I have not had the auto windows malfunction yet (and probably won't).

    Hope that helps you!
