Coffee date tomorrow and he knows what I am driving... :-)

Life is definitely an adventure!

Cleared 12" of snow from my truck, plow came to clear the driveway...and stayed put to enjoy the day here with cooking and freezing favorite comfort foods like chili and matzo ball soup - my family did not understand the latter but living in and trips to NYC were an education in foods that warm the heart - "Cooking for Engineers" online made it real. My former sailing captain on a sailboat I raced on provided knowledgeable insight for "manageable" matzo balls from his mom... but being outside the culture mine go outside the limits!

Coffee date tomorrow - we have hit it off via electronics and voice conversation - have the same level of outdoor enthusiasm and he knows I have a Prius and loves horses. Another trifecta... but just learning how single wings soar without grounding.

And still planning on plunging in the ocean on Tuesday to benefit a local homeless shelter that I learned benefits parents of kids at my school... a good reason to be "freezin' for a reason."

Sometimes one happily soars!

 

Good Gawd! I don't have tinted windows nor am I sharing my Prius with anyone right now! Forensic evidence is not a good thing in some cases...

 

It's fun to feel 17 again...

 

I haven't found the local "polar bear club" but I figure a good running start and I am in for tomorrow. Supposed to be 35 and sunny... Ours here is the "Penguin Plunge" and they have a "Chicken Coop" for non-plungers.

I am so ready to boot 2012 out the door - for the most part it was not a good year but things are slowly getting better.

 

And then, reality hits hard - side impact with no warning.

Coffee date turned into two dinner dates and good conversation on the phone and over texts but an odd pattern emerging - phone calls to me only on his way to and from work, even with an AM text from me at a reasonable hour to show I was up and about... (His reply: "I'll call you on my way to work." Two hours later.)

I didn't take tonight's call during the "usual time" as a family member was already on the landline and when he finally did call he sounded "off", like he had been drinking. Noted to him gently that he sounded "troubled" and he closed right up and said good night. Been there, done that, so not going there again.

I will politely ask about this noted pattern as I want to see what the answer is... I have nothing to lose... in my case, nothing invested but time and a lesson learned.

I am guessing it is back to the drawing board. (Uh, where did I leave those power tools?)

 

He's getting possessive, a most unattractive characteristic. I belong to no one...

 

Sorry to hear someone was that shallow to do that to another person - I was stood up twice in my life and it stunk. Two years later, won a beauty pageant on a dare. The guys' loss, not mine. I am still standing and have had a good life to back it up despite the downfall of my marriage. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Who knows... there's plenty of space at the drawing board I frequent. The rejections and garbage of life used to depress me but I refuse to go there ever again - life is too short to waste one's being on the opinions and actions of others.

Plus, yesterday, I got 69.5 mpgs on a 3.2 mile trip in January in New England....(got it on a picture on my phone as I almost died when I saw it - will try to figure out how to post it) and I didn't think Prii did well on the short trip with ICE warm up involved and the ICE had its say. Guess that was my sign.

 

Congratulations that it worked for your son - may he and his new wife enjoy a long and happy life together.

 

Hope springs eternal - had a phone chat with another potential suitor who gets my love of sailboats - they are the aquatic version of the Prius - lots of gadgets to play with in order to get home in the quickest time imaginable and do it green on wind power.
