I have a 2012 Prius Plug in, and the seats were uncomfortable for long drives.

I had Katzkin leather put in - with half an inch of foam underneath and in the back area.

It's much better and softer, and makes longer rides more comfortable without pain in the tailbone and lower back.

    Greatly recommend it!

Looks nice. Info on where you purchased from, and price? Did you get it for all seats?

I also saw there are some different types of covers you can buy from Katzkin. Do they all fit the same? Do yours has no zippers on the back, like others have shown.

It cost me $1100 installed at a place in nj, I got all seats, center console, and door panels done.

They do have the zipper but look great!

Well, if you figure the price difference between a package 3 and a package 4 when the leather kicks in is a $3k difference... if you only want it for the leather you could save a few bucks by not paying the extra $2k for the other stuff the package 4 brings. When you buy a package 2 and only want to add leather it becomes a $4k difference. Even moreso the $1,100 for a professionally installed leather interior appears to be a bargain.

I personally always shopped for leather interiored cars because I preferred them. Then cheaped out when I bought my Prius because I negotiated a bargain and now that I've purchased cheap and added aftermarket covers that look (IMHO better than) factory I now I don't think I will ever go any other way.

Looks great. I went the cheap route and got black seats covers. While installing them I kept wondering what it would have looked like in dark grey. :)

Ernie says that they really don't do the leather seat modification. They are a sound and electronics shop. They send the work out to Coach in Union City. He gave me Coach's number. I called Coach. The guy explained to me that he works through dealers. I asked what his prices would be if I brought it in on my own; his prices seemed higher than the dealer prices -$2995 for the seats (front and back), plus $1195 for heated. Katzkin. Now that is for front and back and I think some of the addon prices I was getting from the dealers were for just the front so it might be equivalent.

Any other options in the bay area?

Do the after market leather seats impact the effectiveness of the air bags that are situated in the front seats for side impact protection?

We did leather with 2 speed heat in our C. Cost was same, installed. Still cheaper than the simulated leather available in the 3 model and less than upgrading from the 2. Sits much better than the factory cloth that came in our's.

Seems like a great deal to me. Are they heated?
It would almost be worth it just for the center console alone, because it seems to me like the leading edge of the revised for 2012 armrest lid is not gonna wear well.....

Does anyone know if my 2005 has the same frame dimensions for the rails that the seats are bolted to that I would be able to salvage some newer-year seats at a junkyard? I really want the lumbar support integrated into the seat AND would like heated seats if the retrofit wasn't too much more than swapping and wiring in AND leather was something I had hoped to also have. Anyone with knowledge on this?

Instead of getting the leather seat, I was wondering how come people aren't interesting on the water-proof (breathable) cloth seat? That won't feel too cold or hot during the severe weather and easy to maintain for long lasting use.

Do you mean seatcovers? Or the "fake leather" seats in newer Priuses?
