I wish but I seriously doubt they will make a Prius with that ev range come mid 2015 for Gen IV. 20 to low 20ish perhaps but not volt range. Just my guess.

My wife has a Acura ILX Hybrid at 33K loaded with discount no rebates and yes with Leather Seats. It is faster that a Prius Hybrid but not that much more. In fact her biggest compalint is power when you need it. Perhaps this may be the benefit speed with ecology. Still think the price is a no start. Let the market decide. :)

I like the '13 Accord interior a lot. Nice front and rear seat room, and it's just about a 3-adult rear seat while PiP.. not so much. PiP will have leg up on cargo ability that's for sure. This 8.x cu ft trunk won't haul much from airport.

I'm more interested to see the Accord nonplug hyb coming in 6 months. I'll be interested in plug-ins when they're well under $30k and I'm not sure that includes the Leaf S.

There needs to be a major OEM price decline to esculate the EV to the next level in sales #'s. The Rebates are helping but at some point they will disappear. Battery technology needs to get cheaper and better! Charging network needs to improve in many areas also. That is the last frontier. When I can go to a dealer and get a Plug in EV a Hybrid or a ICE Car at the same price the Hybrid / EV numbers will go ballistic. That's my opinion and that and a buck seventy five can get you a coffee at Starbucks.

How they going to get 47 in city moving a 3,800 lbs car?

Anyone think this is much different than HSD?

"Two Motors, Three Ways to Drive
How did we make a car with hybrid efficiency and Accord performance? Our unique continuously variable transmission allows the Accord Plug-In's powertrain to shift seamlessly among three driving modes, utilizing power from the i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine and the electric motor.

    EV Drive
An all-electric drive. EV Drive is active when you start from a stop, when you're doing light cruising and acceleration, and when you're braking. Starting from a stop taxes your fuel supply, so we kept your starts 100% electric.

    Hybrid Drive
Electric and gas working together. Hybrid Drive is generally active when you're accelerating and changing speeds regularly. The electric motor gets you going, and the gas engine gives you the burst you need on the road.

    Engine Drive
Gas-powered cruising. A cruising vehicle's gas engine consumes a lot less fuel than it does when starting or accelerating. That's why highway mpg is generally higher than city mpg. So when you cruise, your gas engine cruises efficiently."

Patience yago (sp?) .... with plug-ins, I hope recharging on the road works well. Not one to spread rumors, but there was a post / rumor on Tesla Motors Club of a model S owner who encountered two others in line at supercharger and (I think it took an hour) to get on juice on way from SF to Rose Bowl in LA. Something about 9 hours SF to LA (thread was moved from battery/charging forum). Maybe a rumor... but when I think of cars tethered to chargers, not sure how many can be accomodated.

I think plug-ins will mostly be charged at home. We'll see how many can/will do that.

Honda is better with the expected mileage so the 10 miles EV range should be a real 10 and given 6.7 kwh it should. We are still at the beginning with things only getting better...

Fully loaded Fusion Energi Titanium is only $41,725, and that includes all the tech and park assist, and comes in all the available Fusion colors, not just 3, the SE you can get for $38K. This is Honda's real competition, not the Pip.

The real test will be what the real world numbers come out to be on these cars.

Accord PHEV has 6.7 kWh battery but using only 3.81 kWh.

    (33.7 kWh / 115 MPGe) x 13 miles = 3.81 kWh

Perhaps your right. So if your spending 40K on a car you want tech options up the gazoo but Clean Tail Pipe emmissions is important and decent mileage. I'm not a fan of the Accord look, it is just a Box to me, reminds me of the Camry good for families but not stylish and trendy. I thought the Prius had a unique look. I can say that 40K and 10 miles EV may be a great House Wife car to shuttle the kids and do errands about town (Hope I did not insult anyone). At that price point you have many options. I'm not a Volt expert but it seems the EV may be a longer range at the same price point but agian not as many fancy tech options. The Volt type car will be released in the Cadillac emblem sure that will be plush interested to see how the price and options comes in. Time will tell. For 40K maybe the Accord EV may be close to the PIP advanced in price and options and the Fusion Energi Titanium as you said.

Prius is a unique look, but I'm starting to turn into more of midsize trunked sedan type a guy. Sometimes I gotta put tall passengers in the car which gets a bit cozy for them. If I needed the hatchback utility a lot, that would tip in favor of Prius, but actually I don't need hatchback that much.

It's a start with these plugin hybrids and EVs. They're expensive and have limited range, but hopefully they stick and range goes up while cost goes down over the generations.

We'll see how the midsize trunked sedan plugin hybrids sell over time. It's going to be slow going, but hopefully not so bad that they get canned after a couple years.
