Recently, I've noticed a constant ticking noise prior to a full stop on my 2011 Prius . This is when the car is regenerating while breaking, before a full stop. I would say when I'm decelerating close to 20 mph until the car fully stops. If I let go breaking then it stops and comes again when the brake pedal is pressed again until the car stops. The noise is very similar to a spark plug arcing. Is this normal?

Can you try to capture ???

but yeas there is a noticeable high tone pitch clearly "electric" when you brake and it is noticeable if you alone (on the road no other noisy vehicle) no music etc ... I can hear easily when I am on my local street and breaking from ev drive ...

I had a 2010 before this 2012 and I do not recall hearing it this much but it was there...

I have the same thing in 2010 prius 2. I started 6 months ago, was not there when new. It's very quiet, you can only hear it without radio and ventilation fan at lowest setting. Thus, I'm not going to bring it up to a dealer. There was another thread posted on this if you search.

Weird, today, I floored the gas pedal while slowly driving to clear an intersection and I'm almost sure I heard rapid clicking over the engine noise. It's the same wheel, front right. I will check for any stones/screws embedded in the tire.

That sort if clicking ... I had that you can check that if the clicking frequency changes as you decelerate ... I discovered more than one nail/screw that way ... I found this more pronounced in the parking garage where the clicking noise is "amplified". hope you find an answer.

I have that noise going down my hill. To me it sounds like metal rattling on metal, my thoughts were the pads against the caliper but of course dealer "unable to reproduce"

Well, I'm not sure, as I don't hear it regularly, even inside garage. Only on moderate deceleration and - maybe - on heavy acceleration.

This is not break related. It does it while in electric mode and still breaking. I'm going to try to capture it and show you.

I noticed the same ticking on my Prius 3. As stated above, I took it to the dealership and they were unable to recreate. Please let us know what you find out.

    Thanks

I notice a "click" any time I depress the brake pedal, and I realized it is what sounds like the relay that activates the brake lights. (and maybe the braking system as well)
I confirmed this by putting the car in the garage while running, (on EV) closed the garage door so I can see the reflected light. Sure enough, the click happens when the lights come on.
Maybe that's what some of you might be hearing?

I recently noticed the same symptoms as you did when I'm braking and a little bit before a full stop on my 2010. I'm taking it in to my dealer on Saturday for my 30k service and have already told my service rep about it. I'll keep you all posted on this!

As far I could determine, you have to brake from 20 to 0 and turn at the same time to hear this.

After my 30k service, dealer noted nothing unusual. My service guy says all "codes" are normal and the mechanic didn't note any issues or potential issues with my brakes, steering, etc.

LOL, no surprise here. Didn't you know dealer mechanics were hearing impaired? Especially while car under warranty.

Yup, no surprise there. My point was that the car is running well. No significant issues noted.

I noticed lately a lot of brake clunking noise after starting the car and even more of that ticking noise at the end of the commute. Are these two connected?

I also noticed the clicking sound under the same conditions (slowing to stop and slight turn). If anyone here has ever heard a front wheel drive car with a bad CV joint, that's how I can describe this sound (maybe not as loud). I thought maybe a CV joint was going bad but I recently had the 60k service performed at the dealer (well out of warranty) and the mechanic gave it a clean bill of health.

Nope, bad CV is completely different noise. Besides, I did some work under mine and CV boots are in great shape and still too low miles to worry about it.

I'm thinking maybe this is normal but not many people notice it? It's fairly soft ticking. Hard to hear with radio on.
