I lost my fob yesterday. I am now using the spare.
What are my options for replacing it? Will fob's that don't have the AC button work?
Can I buy and program a non- PIP fob?

    Thanks

the only thing i know is the dealer and $2-300. there are a bunch of threads here that run the gamut of possibilities, do not know if anything actually works. are you sure you can't find the lost one?

Search the forum for hOOktern in the Gen III 2010+ Prius Technical Discussion.

Ebay fob price and rented techstream to program it to the car.

Or can you get access to a techstream yourself?

Hey, you're in SF. Go to Luscious Garage | Blog | Full Service Prius Key Programming

Their prices are $192 for new keyfob + $30 programming. Or bring in your used (eBay) keyfob and they'll set it up for $100.

Another option would be to purchase a new, never programmed, keyfob from an online dealer or eBay (careful!). You could then do the chicken dance to register it. Cost about $150, plus whatever Luscious charges to bail you out...

The gen III doesn't do the chicken dance.

It's all done by the computer dance. That's what I did.

The Gen3 doesn't have a transponder chicken dance, but I thought someone had reported success with the proximity/button chicken dance. The official way is obviously to use Techstream with a new keyfob.

I booked an appointment with LG. Will give the $100 option a try with a used keyfob.
    Thanks
