No. Why do you ask? What are you implying? Do you give your account to anyone else?

    That seems unusually harsh.

On the list of Wth cars most people choose the Lexus LSh. If one were concerned at all about how much gas they were using in a car, they would not buy one of these beasts, and .... they aren't. Compare it to a less expensive tesla S or Mercedes S400, and any credit you have for the hybrid badge goes away.

The ELR is extremely efficient for the Luxury market, but isn't going to give you reclining seats in the back to get chauffeured in. Its not going to get more range either. Read the press releases. You seem to be trying to make this car into something it is not. Its not a guzzler. Its not trying to be the most luxurious or fuel efficient. Its trying to bring a cool phev experience to Cadillac buyers, and perhaps pull some back from bmw, Mercedes, audi, and Lexus. I don't think it will work, but it is not a turd that needs polishing.

I don't think it'll be a turd either. I remember the (unreliable) Caddy Caterra though ... and it seemed there was another re-badged Caddy model too, that GM simply pushed out (name slips my mind right now) with different molding under the Caddy label. Hopefully this one won't be a vestige of those prior excuses of a Caddy. It'll be funny someday to see a plug in caddy ... trolling the parking lots looking for a free charger. Hard to wrap my head around that one. :D

    EDIT :
Ok a quick trip to wikipedia refreshed my memory ...

Hill you know that the great bulk of phevs charge at home and/or work and use gas when the batteries get low. There might be some charging say at the whole foods parking lot, but there will not be hoards of these looking for a free charge.

Remember the volt has a high level of materials already and they are upgrading. They are not taking a Malibu and rebadging it.

oh yes I know .... just being cheeky - the thought simply made me laugh - that's why I flung the smilie afterwards. (Warning - more funny) and speaking of hoards ... at $75k+ a pop, there actually won't be hoards of 'em anywhere/anyway ... just like the LS'h's . ;)

Didn't realize you were trying to be funny.

The LSh sold 54, not last month in the entire last year in the US. I expect it to stay well bellow 100 this year again.
An analyst Bloomberg talked to thought the ELR would sell about 1500 in the entire year of 2014. I think if tesla gets its smaller car out in 2014, the number may be closer to 1000. The ELR is not going to sell in volume.

I was disappointed that they didn't do anything with the ELR. I just hope they didn't spend much and they'll price it, CTh-stylee, on top of the loaded Volt to make some money before the platform shift. I think there's room underneath the Model S.

    +1
That's a seriously bad month. We knew that volt and leaf sales were going to fall from December but this is worse than I expected. It sounds like march might be much better.

with all the uncertainty about the fiscal cliff and tax credits I think people just delayed their buy decisions. having payroll tax kick in also took a bite out of regular paychecks causing people to have to reexamine their monthly budget.

    Selective numbers.
What if it read this way instead?

January was a solid growth month with the Volt almost doubling its Jan 2012 numbers (610) selling 1140.
PiP in its debut year sold a solid 874 cars without yet expanding availability nationwide.

Well, the low Leaf sales are because of lack of supply in some/many areas due to '13s coming out real seen (being manufactured in Smyrna, TN instead of Japan).

Someone I sorta know of TiVocommunity and now on MNL had a hell of a time trying to find a '12 Leaf SV in So Cal to take advantage the great lease deals that Nissan had running only on the SV.

He has a fisker karma. He helped finance that company. I do not know whether he was charged for the car.

ow. That much spinning hurts my head. It is just one month though, and you are right the trend for plug-ins are still much higher.

Analysts expected a fall off of the leaf and volt sales. Nissan didn't want too many on lots when the '13s arrive. GM under forecast December and January. Its just hard to take both of these companies missing inventories by so much. If it was just Nissan that would be easier to understand, as they likely lose more dollars on each one imported from Japan, so shortages are profitable on the change over as long as you don't piss off customers. GM should have built enough inventory to sell 3000/mo with the shut down. That way if sales were bad they just needed to produce less in January/February. It seems like poor inventory management for both companies. With low inventories it does not look like leaf/volt customers wanted to buy prius phvs. March can be much better. Nissan and GM can readjust. Toyota doesn't look like they came to play, otherwise they would have taken advantage of the poor logistics.
