I've had some fun driving in two inches of snow and ice on the hilly back roads in my Prius and was surprised at how surefooted she was. The heated seats and a chance to play with MPGs are too much of a draw to let her sit in the garage but...the weather folks are reporting 1-2 feet for my area tomorrow through Saturday... with up to three feet plus in Boston. That is a stupid amount of snow and while I witnessed a Prius making it down my unplowed road with six inches of snow, when you start talking 1-2 feet in New England....

Today's the last day of driving my Prius then she goes into the garage to snooze until they clean the mess up... I have to work tomorrow so would rather take my chances in the truck... but with a small crew on instead of the usual staff, and probably one to three phone calls versus the ringing off the hook phone that usually lives on my desk, I will get a lot of work done provided we do not lose power.

Those that are driving their Prii in this, would love to hear how you do.

Where I live, the power will be going out... it always does.:( Will be prepping the generator for this one...

    Stay safe!

Man does that sounds exciting! I use to love that about winter, I'm an extreme weather addict. However, last March I moved from Pa, to Florida.
Looking back no snow, warm winters, longer daylight, the ocean, sun, sun, sun! What was I thinking for the last 50 years.
Anyway, it is exciting and so beautiful, and watching it pile up was too cool. I guess its a text book case on mixed emotions. Enjoy, have fun, be safe!

I guess that it is all a matter of perspective. My move was from the Boston area to PA and have similar feelings to you. The winters here are just so mild compared to what I'm used to.

Best of luck to everyone in the path of this storm.

When I returned from church last night, I backed the Prius into the far side of the garage to leave room to get the tractor out. It's the truck today and tomorrow, but the forecasters have lowered the anticipated snowfall to 4" or less for our area. Alas...

We have had no snow in DC but every time I go see my Mom in Pittsburgh they have big snow.
Last weekend Prius did very well on the Pittsburgh steep hills with snow, I have the Continental Proconact Eco-Plus on the front, short tire life but you can just feel the good tire gripping ability. Seeing many more Prii in Pittsburgh too...mine used to be the only one.

Looked out the front window and the street is wet! Not raining right now, but it probably will be soon.

We'll be joking about those people who don't show up at the noon swim because they're afraid of getting wet. The water should be fine - it's getting between the lockers and the pool that wakes you up.

School is closed... I have to go in unless the state calls a "code red"... or can use my discretion and burn a day. The chance to get work done without interruptions is appealing...the truck is ready to go... stored a bunch of water for horses and working in the house if we lose the well pump...

Haven't seen the movie... and no "code red" here yet. During Sandy actually had a call from the state I work in issuing the code red and them saying "stay home."

Headed into work to enjoy a day without phones ringing, can listen to music and wear jeans. Score!

Got up this morning to about 3" of snow on the driveway. According to the radio I'm about 1/2 mile north of the dividing line between slushy vs nasty conditions. The drive in to work (SE of where I live) was either just slush or wet. Forecast is calling for another 1" to 2" of additional accumulation before it quits. All local public schools are closing for today.

Four inches and coming down at a quick rate here - after corralling two of the minis who decided playing in the deeper snow was worth escaping for, I am thinking one should never be too old to make a snowman... even if my high school nieces think that it is not cool...:D
