    What's Prius' acceleration number?

Did you look at the chart I provided earlier? There's no single "acceleration number". Some publications seems to have faster or slower acceleration times than others. Consumer Reports numbers tend to be a little slower.

0 - 60 mph actually has quite a bit of variation. I prefer 1/4 mile times.

To add a data point, CR w/a '10 Prius IV (Four), got 18.0 sec @ 79.3 mph on the 1/4 mile. That's pretty slow and on par with or a bit slower than most econoboxes.

I can't see anything because I am not subscribed to CR.

So it does look like the extra 100 HP helps to shave off 6 seconds on 1/4 mile.

This is the kind of 1/4 mile time I am spoiled with. LOL!

Sure you can, click on the 2.

Uhh... you bought the WRONG car, if you want that kind of performance. You can sorta get an idea about 1/4 mile times if you look at the back of some issues of Car and Driver, then look up the car's horsepower rating and curb weight. For street legal unmodded cars, 12s are pretty darn fast. OTOH, you need more than 300 hp to get below 13s...

I'd taken my previous 2 cars to the drag strip before and raced them. I've seen enough cars go along w/beating some and getting my butt kicked also to get a relative idea.

I've seen crazy heavily modded cars run in the 8s, but that's nothing true drag racers.

I don't follow this stuff (other than watching a documentary long ago) but I just watched a tiny bit of
. The speeds are insane vs. street legal cars.
shows the fuel flow and resembles what I saw in a documentary.

I didn't buy the wrong car, I knew exactly what I was getting into. I am happy with the Prius, it serves entirely different purpose. Those were interesting numbers, good to know I can beat a Civic Hybrid in 1/4 mile. LOL!

I figured since we are all very interested in efficiency isn't small displacement + turbo charging the newest trend to sweep all car manufacturers? I mean, BMW, Mercedes are all going small displacement using some sort of forced induction engine. Gas mileage is greatly improved and performance is still there. VW did exactly that, a small displacement turbo charged hybrid.

Who knows, maybe we will see that on the next Gen Prius.

I recently was given a new BMW 328i as a loaner car, a car that I am very familiar with since I've owned 3 of them the past. They are famed for BMW's legendary silky straight 6 motor. I knew the car was turbo charged because the extra surge I felt when I stepped on it, I was getting 30 mpg average which was impressive. Later I found out it was only a 4 cylinder that was turbo charged. Very very impressive, I didn't even know it was only a 4 the whole time I was driving it.

Myself and an old friend were venturing down this road a couple years ago until life and finances brought it to an abrupt halt. You can see the bit of progress made on microimageonline.com . On another note, these cars handle very well and only get better with chassis mods. If you want to really surprise and embarrass some sports car drivers you should try autocross.

You are exactly right, the extra weight of the battery mounted in the rear and low makes the Prius very balanced car and with a very low center of gravity this car handles great. Just couple days ago I blew past a car at a sweeping turn doing 90 mph, my wife was freaking out didn't think the Prius could handle it. But I showed her otherwise. That car I blew past caught up with me later but stayed behind me, I think he was trying to read my badge and scratching his head trying to figure out how in the world he got beat by a Prius. But of course he didn't know that I have had many years of professional road course racing training, and that the Prius is a great handling car.

My model now is, changing the negative stigma of a Prius owner one driver at a time. See ya!
