Got My New Hitch Ordered

    The dealer on ebay selling the hitches raised his price from 119 to 140.00 at the beginning of the new year. So, I called on the phone and got one bought for 125.00 shipped. No wiring harness but he has them. Will report on it when it arrives and I get it installed. We have a small luggage rack that we may want to use. Also, should my vdub baja give it up, around town, we can tow it home.

    Will post some pictures as I install it. Have not heard about anyone installing one in 6 months but there was a thread or two back in the summer. Should be a ten minute install from everything I have seen on here in the past.

    Ordered the hitch Tuesday. It showed up today. Should be a simple install.

    Dan, have you installed the hitch yet? I'd like to see some pics when you are done if you don't mind. I'm looking at either a Curt or the Draw Tite and would like to see the difference between the two after installation. I've seen pics of the Curt hitch on a C thanks to Daze, it's hidden pretty well. Etrailer lists the shipping weight of the Curt at 29 pounds and the Draw-Tite at only 19 pounds, that seems like a huge difference.

    I. Have the Draw Tite. It is still on the living room floor. First warm day I will install. Will take pictures. 125.00 shipped to my living room.

    that makes sense. the only thing that makes me miss my yukon xl is pulling my old boat, or my jon boat....(dont miss the gas though)

    I really want to be able to put my 225lb dirt bike on a carrier behind mine. But that hitch says only 150lb tongue weight :(

    That's tongue weight. The trailer can be heavier, you'll just have to make sure to center the weight over the trailer axles instead of towards the front or rear of the trailer. If it isn't centered the weight will distribute more forces on the tongue.

    Oh sorry I should have been more clear. I meant tongue weight though. My carrier isn't a trailer. It slides in the hitch only. So tongue weight would be about 250lbs. See picture below of my bike on carrier behind my jeep.

    ...just ordered my hitch...was just curious on any install probs ...i had installed one on my '05 prius years ago...the install was a bit frustrating and tedious but the hitch was great...

    Finally got this thing installed. Spent yesterday working on the automatic headlight module. Got to this today. Below are the pics. The air dam under there does not go back on, hitch is in the way. 100_1198 (Medium).JPG 100_1200 (Medium).JPG 100_1201 (Medium).JPG 100_1202 (Medium).JPG 100_1203 (Medium).JPG Getting the stupid plastic air dam off is hardest part. The red spot is my blood. Air dam will not go back on. Best thing that happened was my son in law and grandson came by and took over. The raised hitch is a good thing as this thing is low. It came with the kit. No big deal, anyone can do it. 4 bolts.
