Hey everyone. I just purchased my Prius v five yesterday and so far no regrets. I was torn between the Ford C-Max and the Prius v. I actually liked the drive and nav system of the C-Max much better than the Prius, but there were a few things that made me go Toyota. BTW this is my first Toyota...
    1. The Prius has about 10+ years of engineering to make an extremely reliable (I hope) car
    2. The Prius v had about 10 cubic feet more space inside then the C-Max.
    3. looking at C-Max forums, everyone is complaining about the gas millage missing the EPA 47/47mpg advertised by over 10mpg. I do not like to be lied to and the 47/47 was going to be a major reason why I would have gone to Ford. Nothing but complaints in their forum did not give me a warm fuzzy about getting a C-Max...

I traded my Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5 SE for my Prius v. I have a 5yr old girl and another girl on the way next month, so I had to grow up and get a 4 door :) I have always wanted to get a prius, but the interior space was too big of an issue in the past to get one. Love the space in the Prius v.

I really wish their nav system was more refined and I cannot believe that they didn't put guide lines on their backup camera. you have to fork out the $8K extra to get that with the tech package. Seriously? I have not seen another factor backup camera that didn't have guide lines. how could facing the camera up by a couple of degrees and overlaying two lines cost Toyota too much to make it standard? The fish eye view is horible... ok, I'll get off my rant.
I haven't messed with the Entune system too much. I'm actually leaving now to have my dealer give me the walkthrough and set up as I didn't have time for that last night.

Congrats on your Prius v, hope you enjoy it, I'm sure you will. My dad is getting a Prius v this fall once the 2014s are available. As an fyi, Prius v is a lowercase v since in 2010 they used roman numerals for packages which were uppercase roman numerals. Thus it can cause confusion across the boards.

You made the RIGHT choice! Welcome aboard!

Oh, you can get an aftermarket cam with lines for like thirtyish... assuming your system uses RCA plugs

Paradox, thank you for pointing that out. I had to ask the dealer when I first started looking if it was a 5 or a v, so I knew it stands for versatility. doing a quick google search, I see that just about everyone uses the capital V instead of the lower case except for Toyota. I will go with you and Toyota from now on. Thanks again!

Spiderman, I am definately going to look into that. I am pretty technical, but not familure with the Prius v under the dash, so I guess I will have to do some research to see if it is a matter of unplugging the old and plugging in the new. I highly doubt it, but who know :) I may be a matter of splicing the new camera's wires to the existing camera's wires. Very doable, but I really hate to start taking things apart... I just got the darn thing... :)

Oh, just as an update. I work in New Orleans and have a 45 min commute in the morning and afternoon. With my Altima Coupe, I used a little under a quarter of a tank for a round trip. Today, the fuel gauge didn't even go down the first notch until I drove around town later in the afternoon. With gas going over $3.50 and not looking to stop, I am really glad I bought this thing!!!

Yeah, that is what I said too and by the third or fourth month I had completely replaced the headunit. :)

I am not sure about fitment but many of us have installed similar to this cam and have been happy with it. Mine still works great. There are many others.

Post a photo of your current cam. Would be nice to see what they look like. I suspect the RCA plugs are in the rear hatch somewhere. Won't know till someone digs in. ;)

Follow the link in my signature to see what I did with the cam.

    Cheers.
