Today I took the car in for the 15k service, I asked them to re-program the car so that when I touch the driver door handle it would unlock all 4 doors.

They guy typed that into the computer when they took my car.

When I got it back, since it was running I did not test this feature.

I went to my car this afternoon and this did not happened as I wanted.

I tested the key fob and hit unlock, and that did unlock all 4 doors.

I read here somewhere that what I want can be done, and that only the dealer can program this.

Does anyone know if this is true? Or am I asking too much?

don't know.. but some of those features can be changed via your audio system.

(this only applies to package 3&4 obviously).. and obviously you have one of those.

According to page 518 on the prius C Manual state that all doors unlocked in one step can be customized, the default one is driver door then remaining doors.

I did this earlier today. Sit inside the car with power off, then on the key fob press and hold the unlock button then press and hold the lock button at the same time for several seconds. You should see the car outline on the dash showing all four doors open telling you it's been programmed to open all doors. Repeat the steps to go back to driver side unlock only.

Is that to just program the fob or will this program the door handle as well?

It will do the door handle. Did it on mine when I got it in October. So much nicer to lock and unlock all doors at once without taking your keys out of your pocket.

The door handle can be set via Display Audio, if equipped or the Dealer. (I suspect it can also be set by an OBDII programmer)

I don't know is this is something you can do yourself or if it's a dealer job but I can tell you that all four doors
on my car unlock when I touch either the drivers door handle, the passengers door handle or the boot unlock button on the boot lid

It reprograms the car to open all doors. With the key fob's unlock button, it still requires two presses to unlock all doors.

Then you have 3 door SKS, rather than 1 door SKS. On the c and Liftback that starts with Three, on the v with Five,

I did mine a long time ago and both touching front doors' handles and fob unlock all doors with one touch/click.

On my 2013 Prius c four, it reprogrammed only the car.

Wow this thread is totally confusing to read... and what is 3-door vs 1-door SKS? The c either has SKS (C3, C4) or it doesn't (C1, C2)

There's three ways to unlock the doors - use SKS by touching the handle, use a remote button or use the actual key in the lock.

With SKS, in the US the default behaviour is that touching the driver's door unlocks that door only. It can be changed so that it unlocks all doors - this doesn't need a dealer, simply follow the process in the manual. In the 2012 manual that's on page 53. The process does involve the SKS fob.

    http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM52B58U/pdf/sec_1-3.pdf

The passenger door handle always unlocks all doors.

When using the fob remote (on any c, with or without SKS), the default action is to press the unlock button once for the driver's door and twice for all doors. This behaviour can be changed to unlock all doors on the first button press. This is changed either via display audio or the dealer.

The final case is for non-SKS only (C1, C2), which is using the key in the lock. On the driver's side turning the key once unlocks the driver's door. Turning it again in the same direction unlocks all doors. A dealer can change this setting to unlock all doors with one step. Using the key in the passenger door always unlocks all doors.

NOTE: Non-US c's may not share this behaviour. Australian c's do not do the 2-stage unlock and cannot be programmed to do so. Any unlock method on an Australian c always unlocks everything.

On the 3/4 all you have to do is hold the lock and unlock button for a few seconds. You don't have to be in the car. Not sure what the procedures are for the 1/2. This was one of the first changes I did to my 4.

What you're referring to changes the behaviour of SKS. The 1/2 don't have SKS so the procedure doesn't apply. As per my previous comment, changing the behaviour of the remote unlock/lock buttons (be it on the SKS fob or the C1/C2 key head/fob) requires either display audio or a dealer.

sorry to sidetrack this convo but along the same lines...

right now when i stop the car, the doors all remain locked. i think when i originally got the car, all the doors would unlock when put into Park but i didn't feel safe if i parked the car and remained in there for a bit.

i think the manual said i could change the setting to have all the doors unlock after the driver door is opened/unlocked. i tried following the steps in the manual to change it but it never seemed to work. could it be this is a dealer setting that must be changed?

I have seen that setting in my four. If you have entune when the car on, hit the setup button, then vehicle on the screen, that setting is in there.
