Important MD news from an alert PriusChat member:
I have not had a chance to learn more about this. Due to short fuse I will post now, and ask questions later. MD has a nice Plug-In incentive up to $2000 off the sales tax (excise tax they call it in Maryland). Normally this amounts to at least $1800 off on a PiP.

Here is the LINK to MD DMV-
Excise Tax Credit for Plug in Electric Vehicles
Maryland is considering adopting some of Virginia's new transportation funding ideas, but I think I heard the MD Governor say that MD would not charge fees to hybrids/plug-ins.

^^^perhaps not quite as bad as it sounds...the web site says the program was to go to June 15, so they made it half way to that. Wonder if PHEV sales were up so much or possibly they expanded the program to businesses who used it up?

I suspect that cutbacks from federal funding via the sequester is somewhat involved in this program running out of money. I've seen a few more Chevy Volts around in DC - Plug in Prius are not as popular here in DC... people see the regular Prius as the best deal... Nissan Leafs, Prius c and Prius v are also rare birds too. Ford C-max/Energi don't exist in wild as far as the DC area is concerned....

Well I guess time's up on the Maryland excise tax credit for the time being.

I never heard (on radio) or saw (via Google) any explanation of why the funding did not last as long as expected.
