That explains the discontinuities. I had thought it was because the producers had ADD:confused:

I didn't think they'd carry the 'reviews' of some crappy Peugeot or Dacia or even the news segment. I wonder if they just get the races, the star in a car and the other parts when things are smashed up? Maybe other stuff that is relevant to the US market such as the latest Ferrari or SLK, but not the smashing a Marina clips.

We received an episode with the rolling Reliant Robin and seen some Marina thrashing in other episodes.

I did notice that when Jeremy rolled the Robin in front of the Reliant fan club they didn't get all butt hurt about it.

That was a class episode. I love the bit where he rights himself by opening the door lol.

As you say the Reliant club didn't get all upset by it because they understand what the programme is all about eh.

Having said that the Marina club did write in saying they should stop smashing Marinas, but of course this simply caused another Marina to be scrapped.

OMG what did you make of that? I guess you really have to know the history of the Robin to fully understand how amusing it is.

I had read about the Robin but never seen one in person. That combined with a somewhat more than basic knowledge of physics made the Robin rollovers not surprising but still hilarious. That episode was a world class masterpiece.

Have you seen the episode when they race a RR, a Jaguar and a Maserati through an Indian city spilling all the lunch boxes over the road?
Then you know what is this show for.

I am not suggesting anything. I am stating things as plain as day. Top gear issued a blatent lie. The court decided it did not rise to the level of libel. I don't think I can be any clearer. I am not even saying that the court was wrong. What is wrong is for people to defend top gear repeatedly rebroadcasting the lie. A company should have recourse to stop a tv program from repeating a damaging lie over and over again.

I think your new excuse is the lie was so blatent that english viewers would not be misinformed.

Perhaps they don't cut the programs in england, and perhaps people actually sit through entire episodes there.

I have no problem with that statement. The problems come with the repeated airings of cut segments.

I have to say I am struggling to find a source that substantiates your main statements here.
For example do you have a reference for us on this one please "Top gear issued a blatent lie."

Not at all we are just able to differentiate between documentary and light entertainment.

As I don't work for TopGear I really am not in a position to know if what I watch is cut or not cut

Again it's a matter of being able to differentiate between documentary and light entertainment.

Re read the section I gave you on NBC faking the gm truck explosions. Then think of the facts. Top gear scripted pushing a car to be pluged in before testing the car. They then pushed a tesla to be charged on the program. The car had plenty of battery power to move on its own power. These facts were agreed to by top gear. The program to the viewer is blatantly lieing about the car needing to be pushed. What is there to understand. I can pull sources if you disagree with these facts.

I'll give you a similar situation that happened. One country shelled another company and destroyed houses. The news photographers - not staff, contract - took dead people from a hospital and arranged them in the wreckage. They were really dead, but nothing to do with the bombs. Do you think it was honest? The way these folks got caught is they had some actors pretending be dead, that seemed to die in multiple sites.

We need to have some minimum standards don't we?

Where is the evidence that this was agreed by Top Gear?

If there's anyone to feel sorry for, I think it's the individual who takes "Top Gear" seriously.

I am slowly getting the impression that a lot of Americans wouldn't know humour if it came and slapped them across their face with a wet kipper. Believe it or not, but not everything you see on tv is real! ;)

Instead of getting all uptight and unleashing the lawyers, Tesla would have done better if they'd sent Mr Musk over to drive a reasonably priced car around the Top Gear track, or even drive a Tesla round it. He's a talented bloke and pushing the boundaries of technology on so many levels, but he definitely messed up big time with this stunt.

If I was Mr. Musk, I would just add another 10,000 pounds to the UK price and call it the "Top Gear court fee". I'm sure all the non-UK customers would appreciate the humor. :)

[Warning - Humor intended] The trouble with Top Gear is not that it is over the top in wild behavior, it's that the USofA has no TV programs or news outlets that make lying as much fun. Our programs are just less entertaining for all the liberties they take with the facts. One hour of US cable TV makes it clear that Top Gear goes way above the average US viewer's intellect.

[Translation - The same British judge would say the exact same thing about our nightly news as he said about Top Gear.]

lol I guess you know the UK version of the S is way way overpriced compared to the price in the US - even taking into account currency fluctuations and our 20% sales tax.

Shame, the car could have been a winner despite Mr Clarksons nonsense. If what you say has sound basis (which obviously it doesn't), then it's a case of cutting off ones nose to spite their face.

If all the non-UK customers moved up a spot as UK customers dropped their order, the humor would be well received. :)

I don't believe they're actually selling any yet with a release date for later in the year. Though I doubt they'll sell more than a couple dozen at the money they want.

(and yes I realise your twist)
