UPDATE: Long post, here we go. Heard noise coming from the passenger rear, sounded like tire warped, swapped tires around still noise is there. Since I had alot of mileage, like i said could have gone maybe 10 -15000 more. Anyway decided to change all 4. Went with the Nexen cp641, had success with them in the 2009, drove home no problem little windy out. Saturday going to miami still noise, drove around some more turned music up, to drown my frustration. Anyways with the noise I get poor gas mileage i am talking struggling to get 39 - 40. Drove behind some trucks, some cars finally reached 43 - 44 believe me im talking driving 60 in a 70. Finally drive back to tire shop and to my surprise, they decided to swap out the tires for the original equipment. YEA 400 for nexen vs 629 for turanza bridgestone all i owe is the balance of 229. With mileage of 40 mpg that will cost me 150.00 a month in extra gas, 8 dollars a day. Happy Now my mechanic comes by the house to check out the noise he tells me the wheel bearing is going bad. He called autozone they wanted 645 what are they crazy. Called toyota and to my surprise all they wanted is 339. It is the hub assembly. Not having a good day. Mechanic says it is possible the mileage could be from the bearing, so what do I do. Keep the nexen and hope it was the bearing. Man life sucks big time. Tires are ordered coming in tomorrow. Before I changed tire noise was there and mileage was good. Anyway just ranting. Nobodys listening anyway except my prius buddies, well actually reading. If anyone can find a link to a hub assembly let me know. Thanks

Why would a wheel bearing be going bad on such a new car? What is your total mileage? Just curious since I just purchased mine.

Thanks, ewxit66. I was confused and thought you were posting about a v, which I just purchased. I also have a 2008 but it only has 76,000 miles on it. Only routine maintenance and new water pump needed so far. I guess I'll just exit this thread until I reach 100,000 :)

It is a v, owned by "2 fas 4 u". He traded in his 2009 Prius with 465K miles. He drives about 12K-13K per month. and now has 160,000 miles on a v he bought in Jan of 2012.

Anyone interested 35 initial diagnostic fee from trusted mechanic. Bearing replacement. Only comes hub assembly price 374 from Toyota. Discounted price 329 + tax total 348. Toyota fee for replacing 159 + tax Trusted mechanic 50 in front of my house. Situation accomplished. Anyone interested in DIY remove tire, remove brake pad and assembly, remove brake disc, 4 bolts holding hub, unplug speed sensor, replace hub, plug in sensor, attach brakes and assembly, put on tire. Good Luck Total 30 minutes. P.S. mileage on new tires is back to where it was. this was done with the bad bearing anyway it is what it is.

I have ascended to 200 miles! But what more could you ask for in less than one week of ownership. New to the Prius family...

    Update 193750

Question I was thinking about buying battery pack from walmart to run portable fan when I sleep its just to hot now.
If I use the car in ready mode which battery would I be wearing down. And also I dont like the ice turning on and off all the time, think it might make ice burn oil. Other than that this prius v is running good.

In ready, the HV Battery is keeping the 12 v battery all charged up. When the HV battery needs charging the ICE runs briefly, as it was designed to.
