Prius plug in clock problem

I would suggest your estimated mpg readout won'tbe very accurate either, nor will the dealer "fix" it. Looks like your going to have to live with this one, the rest of us are doing just that.

not sure what the problem is, but you get used to it after awhile. at least they make it easy with the minute and hour buttons right in front of you. i usually change it when i hear the time on the radio. my wife's last 3 camry's are the same way. what car did you come from that had a perfect clock?

My GenII clock has been spot on for 2 years. I have only adjusted the minutes once since I bought it, and all the other times I just use the hour button to change between daylight savings and timezones.

The clocks have a tolerance, like all crystals/oscillators do. Your's is within tolerance, but not at 0%. Even your PC loses time. Disconnect from the internet for a few weeks and your clock will be very wrong. Every day your computer connects to an internet timeserver and synchronizes with an atomic clock. Without it, everything would be off.

 

It is more difficult to make a car clock keep accurate time than it is a wristwatch. A watch is kept at more constant temperature by being on your body temperature wrist or a room temperature nightstand at night. A car clock sees far bigger temperature swings.

That said, Prii clock accuracy still sucks even by car clock standards.

It seems like they made them deliberately slow so no matter how bad they are, you can adjust them easily with the minutes button by adding minutes. The adjustment doesn't allow you to subtract minutes.

 

not sure why they can't make the clock more accurate, but i don't think it's defective. i suppose you can ask your dealer to change it and see what they say. as for the rest of the car? no worries, as close to perfection as you can get.

If you have scangauge or some other OBD2 scanner plugged in all times, it interferes with car computer, including clock. I has been posted about it before.
