2013 Leaf gets heated rear seats. SV and SL, not S.

Nissan LEAF® Features - Electric Motor, Power, Safety, Design, Technology

"The Nissan LEAF® is all about efficiency, but that doesn't mean this 5-door, 5-passenger hatchback skimps on interior finish or size. It comes with heated, folding rear seats made partly from recycled bottles"

Cabin heat sucks quite a bit of juice from battery. There will be passengers in rear seat of the car. Why wouldn't BEV's get heated rear seats?

I didn't realize the leaf got heated rear seats, since I live in a hot place I didn't pay enough attention. In the 85kwh version, it probably doesn't make much of a difference, but... there is a 40 kwh version and that beast might indeed need those rear heated seats for range with folks in back.

I wish they'd said how far they got it to go on a charge in various conditions.

Not sure if it means they are building 500 a week either, they could be clearing up the backlog of deliveries. But they could also be building them that fast too!

What it does indicate to me is that they are getting the suppliers, QA and delivery logistics under control and working more smoothly.
After getting production up to 400/ week in the 4th quarter, that was, in my mind, their most critical issue.
They are learning, and learning quick!

And 12,000,000 Model S miles is a fun number. I am hoping they add a live ticker with those miles on their site.

^ Now that the infrastructure is beginning to pop up I hope that this leads to electric vehicles that are more attainable and not just playthings for the rich. If they made a 4 door sedan with a real 200 mile range that could be had for around 30 grand I would be all in.

Someone will claim 30 grand is only for the rich, just like they do for the phevs today. I would say that mid 30s for the bmw 3 series type 200 mile range tesla is probably less than 4 years off.

Does Tesla allow charging of other EVs with the J1772 adapter.

The 40 Khr Model S is rated at epa 160 mile for a base price of $52,400. If the 40 Khr in a smaller vehicle can approach 200 mile, all Tesla has to do is to take off $10,000; $42,400 before incentives, Deal!

It's interesting Austingreen specifically said the bmw 3 series 96 ft3 (4 door)13 ft3 (cargo), I also think that would be the perfect size for a new Tesla model, Model C?

The only thing that would have me worried is reliability. I can throw a rock in any direction and hit a toyota dealer and I do most repairs myself so I can also hit the local autozone when it comes time to fix something.

Hopefully the "entry level" version will do away with much of the fancy items such as all the touch screens and replace them with more conventional controls. The touch screens are cool for a 90k sedan but i wouldn't want to pay out of pocket to replace them.

You are not going to find a new Model S for $52400. Tesla's superchargers are not J1772 and not compatible with anything else. This is where I think they missed the mark.

They would not be able to offer free charging to any bodies cars.
And second, would love to see any other manufacturer put up charging stations other than at their own dealers.

I agree but there needs to be a standard. There aren't different gas pumps for different cars. If tesla wants to put up charging stations they can give their owners a swipe card or something to charge for free and make non tesla owners pay. But at least make a standardized plug.
