I just bought a 2010 prius III with jbl sound. The steering wheel controls for the stereo and blue tooth do not work. The one for display and heater work fine. The heads up display shows when the steering wheel buttons are pushed for the stereo but nothing else happens. The blue tooth doesnt seem to do anything. Am I missing something basic here or what might be the problem?

Do the controls work by using the touchscreen? If so,maybe the wire has come loose. If not, maybe the volume has been turned off. Have you done any other troubleshooting yet?

It is not the touch screen radio. Not sure of the name but the more basic unit. 6 cd changer. All the controls do work on the radio. No other trouble shooting has been done yet. Not sure where to start. Is there some sort of plug on the stereo for remote control that would be loose? Being the tracer display lights up when a button is pushed tells me the buttons are functioning.

I don't think there's a remote plug, but I'll take a look on the wiring diagram. Just as a check, turn the car on, push the DISP button, and touch the upper and lower blue bars towards the left side of the screen three times at about hallf second intervals. That'll bring up the diagnostic screen (you may have to try several times). Select the function test, then select the wheel switch test, and see whether the stereo recognizes those switches as being pressed. It will revert to normal operation after you power down.

Thanks Buzzhead for the diagrams. Figured out what I was looking for from the wiring diagram. Pulled the radio to test three wires on the plug that go to the steering wheel buttons and found those three wires had been cut. Some other wires had been spliced on and since cut off. I soldered back together and everything works. I was told the dealer had installed an aftermarket rear camera and couldnt get it to work properly and then removed it. Seams like a hack job.
    Thanks again,
    Scott

I have a similar problem on my 2010 Prius III I recently purchased. The TRIP and DISP buttons are not operational.
All the other steering wheel buttons are fine (TEMP Up/Down as well as the 4 stereo controls). (I have the standard radio.)

The Right Hand Screen works but stays in the Oil Change Required mode since I cannot change to TRIP A to access the reset mode.

    Any ideas?

I would love to get access to the wiring diagrams.

I also have a bluetooth obd2 adapter I use with Torque with my smart phone.... any suggestions for software to do further diagnostics on the car?

    Thanks in advance
