I took my 2007 Prius to local dealer to have the recall service performed on January 12. At that time they "mistakenly broke something" and had to keep my car 2 days while they made the repair. They stated they replaced the steering extension shaft and 3 bolts. Yesterday while I driving I noticed a loud thump when I turned the steering wheel. No warning lights came on so I continued to drive, luckily I was in a spot where I was only driving about 15 mph. I then had to turn again and heard the noise once again and the steering went out!. Thankfully I was in a spot I could pull over without hitting anything! My husband (who has friends who tow) came and got the car and took it home. Upon taking the tire off, he could clearly see that the steering had stripped out, there are metal shavings. Will the dealer be responsible for fixing this problem? Someone could have been killed if this had happened in a different situation! What is your opinion? Of course we have already contacted the dealer, but since it was on a Saturday afternoon, no-one returned our call, so we are waiting until tomorrow.

Yes, as long as your car was not previously in an accident which prompted the steering component failure.

I'm sure the dealer will take this very seriously...
But its always good to have a really thorough intention/plan when you have your first conversation with them:

    1) Make clear to the dealer that they failed to make your car safe under the terms of the recall and not only did they not fix the design flaw, they exacerbated the design flaw to the point of catastrophic steering failure while the car was being driven,
    2) You could of been killed,
    3) You've done preliminary research on attorneys and legal issues related to this incident,
    4) Unless the dealer is more than responsive to the damage you'll be filing with NTSB and BBB,
    5) Lost time without a vehicle, need a loaner vehicle.
    6) What's the dealer willing to do to make you happy and why can't they do more than that?

Can you post a picture? The area of the recall is covered by a rubber boot at the steering rack. There would have to be significant damage to the boot for someone to just remove a wheel and see something.

Trying again...seeing it on my page?? Is it showing up now? Dealer has picked up car and has since notified me that the part they replaced did fail. They are waiting on "higher" ups to tell them what steps to take.

could of, should of, would of

The English language is dying a slow death by your hands. Why do you sit idly as this happens? ;)

I'd love to know the specific grammatical/english language concern you're referencing? Is it use of passive tense? Or is it an issue of punctuation? Because lists are not confined to rules that much when it comes to punctuation?

Just click the link I posted. The phrase "could of been" is not proper English.

No, the link in your image points to **your** livemail received files. For obvious reasons we can't access those files (unless you want to give everyone here your livemail account details and password! Ok I thought not. :) ).

So please just click the "upload" button when you're replying and it will host the photo here, so that everyone can see it.

Yes... I see... Interesting trivial language rule... It "would of" been an important rule if the language wasn't almost already dead.

    :) sux bein u, dosnt it? :)

I'll humor you here. If English is almost dead, what will be its replacement?
