Oh, now we're doing videos? Here's a pull from about 80MPH to 160MPH. (4th and 5th gear). I finished at about 7000RPM in 5th, didn't have the "testicular fortitude" to go for it in 6th gear!

^^^ I'll see your 160 and raise you to 185...

Lol. Btw this was on a runway.

That last 25MPH came painfully slow! Mine was in the high desert in Northern NV, somewhere between 4000 and 6000 feet above sea level. Being turbocharged definitely helps at altitude.

My Vette has 4:10 gears and really short gears 1-3 so it tachs up fast in the first 3 gears. In a Vette 5th gear is an overdrive gear. Plus I only made 450/408 at the wheels then.

That said it was a lot of fun.

Your car was nuts fast revving in 5th. How much Hp/tq do you have?

Ah, I figured it was something like that. I'd read about the Vette having two overdrive gears, which is how they get such great highway MPG figures. (27MPG, IMS?) My Supra "only" got 22MPG, cruising at 80MPH in 6th gear.
Here's the dyno, pump gas vs. pump+methanol injection. I had the methanol injection controlled by a keyed switch, similar to what Chevy did for the valet mode in the original ZR1 Corvette. the breaks in the 582RWHP curve are where the car broke the 275/35ZR19 S-03's loose on the dyno, despite the TRD LSD and 3 guys sitting in the hatchback ;-)

Yep, the Vette has double over drives, 5 & 6. With 4:10's I get 22 or so at 70-80 also. With 3:42's before I got a big cam it would get 24 or so. 27 mpg is maybe 50 mph, not realistic.

But I'm thrilled to have a car that can go 185 and repeatable 10 second quarter miles w 22 mpg! In the 80's or 90's that performance was race car only...and my last 12 second muscle car got 8 mpg.

Since this is now a racer thread, here is my dyno sheet with all my mods overlaid. I wish Hp tuners worked on the Prius, I like to tune my cars myself.

I believe you have me covered friend!

I am not so familiar with blown engines but I'm impressed how your power carries all the way out until redline.

And how much power you are getting out of the meth...are you increasing boost and timing with the meth I'm assuming?

On to Prius chat...has anyone put N02 on a Prius? I'm thinking a 75 dry shot for when I need to pull out in traffic might not hurt anything....

I think I will start a thread ...after searching to see if its been discussed.

Hah Joe, typical EMS OBD-II tuning cable draped across the column...

We used to race on an uncontrolled Airport in VA back in the day. I took my car to well over 180 out there and still had runway for days.

Here is my Dyno slip. I only dynoed it that once. I blistered the slicks on the Dyno doing a full 4th gear pull (184 MPH). Tottaly was not worth it but everyone begged me to run it. My car only had 4,000 Miles on it but it had well over 500 1/4 mile runs and about 600 Dyno Pulls. Dyno graph is a bad graph because again the aviation fitting on the bottom of the gate had a small leak, so the car kept flucuating the boost a few PSI. Nitrous + E-Throttles don't play well together. Not saying a rock solid digital window switch won't take care of the problem, When the Caliber SRT-4 came out we blew apart 4 intake Manifolds (plastic) getting it all figured out lol

LOL, well I had two "power adders", if you go by the NHRA rules and you are "all motor".

The 2JZ-GTE is arguably the best engine Toyota has ever designed and built. People have made over 1000RWHP on the stock bottom end. (although not for very long) With a built motor/billet stroker kit 1500-2000RWHP is achievable, with a fair amount of reliability. It's been transplanted into a variety of cars, from Honda s2000s, to Nissan 240s, to classic muscle cars. There were even a couple of old guys here in Oregon that built an open wheel hot rod/salt flat car using one! It's kind of the SBC of the import world.

Mine was a stock 3 liter, with stock cams, etc. No internal modifications to the engine are necessary until at LEAST 700RWHP. By then, the stock cams begin to be a restriction, at least at the higher RPM. My car made 288RWHP bone stock (Toyota quotes 320 crank) and about 390RWHP with downpipe, exhaust, and a boost controller. (both on 92 octane). The Garrett GT4088R turbo is VERY well matched to the stock volumetric efficiency of this engine, which accounts for the flatness of the curve. We actually could have moved the curve a bit to the left by bringing in the extra 6 degrees of timing (under methanol) sooner, and all at once. My tuner was bringing it in 2 degrees at a time, over a range of several hundred RPM, in an attempt to make the onset of boost more manageable. We were running 17PSI on 92 octane for the 465RWHP curve, and 27PSI on 92 octane+methanol injection for the 582RWHP pull. The car made 612RWHP on full kill, but we detuned it to 90% injector duty cycle for safety margin, resulting in the 582RWHP number. I'm sure Totmacher can attest that in a traction limited car (which includes both the Supra and the SRT-4) 550-600RWHP is more than enough power for a street car. I daily drove the Supra for 7 years/75k miles, the last 4 years of it at this power level.

^^^ I'm really impressed with the Supras...how often do you find a car that costs more now than it did new? They are great cars.

Similarly, in a Vette 500-550 or so rwhp is about the usable limit for the street, unless your goal is to just spin your tires. My car is plenty fast at 472 and if I have my drag radials on, I can go 0-60 in the 2.6 second range through judicious clutch work which surprises a lot of people.

I would put the 2JZ motor as one of the all time best motors ever produced hands down. It's disgusting what can be done with that motor on stock internals. Recepie for a huge aftermarket following is simple; Bullet proof bottom end + turbo charged. it then just becomes so simple to double and tripple the power output. There is just only so much you can do in an All Motor setup where as on the boosted side the blocks integrity is literally the limit.

I used to love racing my 2 friends 10 second supra's. It was similar to my friends with 10 second KB 2.8 /Helion T-76 Terminators. They would absolutly destroy me to the 330 but then I would pull away shortly after, but right around the 1,000 foot mark they would fly by me like I was standing still.

Man all this drag racing talk reminds me of the one thing i hate about SoCal. We used to go drag racing every weekend on the east coast. sometimes twice a weekend. Now in Cali I'm lucky to even see a 1320 drag strip let alone race on one.

I have a bunch of videos racing a friends 06 zo6. We used to do a lot of track rentals and he was big in that community I don't recall what all he had but it was pretty much bolt on's plus good old MT Cheater Slicks. He was pretty consistant 10.8-11.0. This is obviously back in 2006. That was when i fell in love with the Vette's.

Actually my car's MSRP was over $52k in 1995 dollars. Adjusted for inflation, that would be $75-80k in today's dollars. I was told by some of the old school mechanics at the Toyota dealership that I worked at, that dealerships were getting as much as $10k additional dealer markup on the Supras, because they were in such short supply. (my car was 1 of 97 white, 6 speed, twin turbo targas sold in 1995 in the U.S.) I bought the car pretty well, paid $27.5k for it in 2005, with 75K on the odometer, and BPU+ at ~390RWHP. I probably spent another $10k at retail to bring the car to it's final power level. It was still VERY reliable at that level.

I only ran drag radials at the strip. On a dry day, on the street, the car would spin going into 3rd, hook, then spin again at full boost. 4th gear it would dead hook on street tires.

Totmacher: That's ironic, given that you have the best year-round weather for drag racing! We have two drag strips within 25 miles or so of each other, one is dedicated, the other is the local racetrack doing late night drags on Friday and Saturday nights. $20 for a season tech card, and then $25 per night to race.

Here are some pics froma PriusChat members car I just lowered for him the other week (TRD Springs/Sway, Front strut bar, under body brace). Only had like 500 miles on it and about 150 them were driving the car to me lol.

White + Black stock rims + black plasticoat on emblems looked really nice.

Excellent shots. That's what I was looking for, a close-to-stock look, without purchasing new wheels and tires. Those rear wheels also look more flush with the fenders, at least in the 1st shot. I like that look. 1st purchase the TRD springs and 22mm rear spacers, 2nd purchase, anything else my wife does not notice. :)
