So it seems that the Prius no matter where you park someone has to go and open their doors and not think twice about hiting my car. I just got over paying a $55 fee for a ding remover only a week later to have another one in almost the same spot. I'm doing a search to look for these door ding guards that most American cars had (Pontiac and Lincoln were pioneers on these ), but can't seem to find any for the Prius and yest I would put them on as a ding vs a scratch on the guard would make a diffrence at least to me. Does anyone else have this problem, thanks

Agreed, I park in the farthest back of lots where there are no other cars and even better, no shopping carts, and just walk.

I park where nobody else parks..miles away and make sure to be in the exact center of my spot, one day I saw this woman in her van get out of the passenger side because she could not park straight, good thing that day wifey was shoping while I stayed in the car..new Englander's don't care. for other people property and it's becuase of the weather, there are never nice cars all year around for that reason if it snows who cares how you park.. ..but thanks I found some side moldings that will order ASAP...

I remember back in the 70' I went to Daytona with my new van. I parked it a crossed the street from the motel in a empty lot.
I came out to go to dinner and there was a car parked right next to me, sure enough there as a big ding in my door. I took off my belt to do a test to make sure his door lined up with my ding and it did. So I go in my van and pulled it out and walked up to his door a did a jackass kick on his door. I would say 55 bucks would not cover it.

Agreed. Plus with the body side molding, you only get "protected" if the part of the other door that sticks out the farthest lines up perfectly with the placement of your molding. Not great odds IMHO.

Even parking far away, you're not fully protected. I'm still fuming over a door ding I got last year in the back of the parking lot... at CHURCH! Thanks for not leaving a note anonymous selfish congregation member :(

I'm convinced the majority of dings comes from kids, teenagers and elders who swing the door open without thinking or consideration for the car next to them. If you've ever driven with kids as passengers, you'll know what I mean.

I do this also, but for some reason someone always seems to want to park next to me... there's a whole freaking parking lot people. Why you gotta park next to me!?

Had a friend who actually went off on someone for doing that- when he finally stopped yelling, took a breath and finally asked "why the F**K did you do that?" the (minivan) driver said- "I don't know- I just parked there" :(
    Must be herd mentality....

    Why bodyside molding?
    – It does fend off some of the dings... proud I was the day I saw a slight scrape in the molding.
    – There's a stiffening tube inside the door at approximately that height... friend of mine creased his rear left-open-by-his-son door... molding might have helped.
    Ancillary reasons:
    – I like to tease RAV4 owners, asserting that their molding is upside down :)
    – Top speed is increased by 0.0078 mph, something to do with smoothing the airflow.
    – Likewise gas mileage has increased 0.0211 %.
    – I just like the way it looks! Speedy man, speedy :)

I park at the far end of the parking lot by myself, but far too many times, someone parks next to me anyway.

At least this offender has some taste...
