I hope your right. This kid has some serious bluffs though.

I personally would postpone any travel to the area including Hawaii until this is calmed down

A USA talking Head said that the USA would do a premetive strike if it felt war was eminent.

    Now my opinion.

Moving weapons can be such an event. My thinking is via China a message will be sent to NK from the USA ( SK and USA have no diplomatic channel) that either you move those big bombs back by April 10 (I give that date because NK said it) or we may attack.

Think of it as the Cuban Missle Crisis, same stuff.

China likes a calm local area. I suspect they also like NK being more of a headache for the US than themselves.
However, I don't think China is willing to let NK start a war. My guess is they will, under the table, tell NK to stand down. And if they don't stand down, take NK out much more quickly and quietly than SK or the US ever would manage to.

The last time China went to War was in 1937 after Japan attacked China.
I'm hardpressed China will attack anyone never mind it's friend NK.
    Just my opinion. :)

    Ummmm NO.

The Chins were flying jets after US Airmen in the Korean conflict... as well as sending in trained artillery. My father had momentos that were Chinese from that conflict - war.

I remember watching Both USA Iraq wars on CNN.

If this one goes to War we can imagine some damage if it goes Nuclear.

My guess it would be over quickly, Millions dead or near death, and world economic calamity perhaps stock markets haulted and possible bank runs in SK, China, Taiwan, etc.

The USA will dig deep to raise $, can expect big iron moving to the area and diplomacy will be key.

There is one aspect not mentioned. NK is collapsing economically. It's the same thing that triggered the breakup of the Soviet Union. Where does the money and resources come from to a) build more nukes, b) build more missiles, and c) pay the troops? What happens when this runs out? Who do you blame? What do you do to "solve" it?

China did not declare war on th USA during the Korean War. I know it is semantics but perhaps that is what Wiki is referring to. My apology.

The higher the tensions, the increased probability of a mistake being made by either side.

Neither did the Japanese prior to Pearl Harbor. (Just being humorous, not argumentative.)

Back to the original point, which was (today's) China is unlikely to attack. I do agree there, fortunately they have LOTS of strings they can pull with NK that no other country can.

I've been looking at news.Google for the last couple days and there have been no lead stories on North Korea unless I dig way down. I don't want to draw any conclusions based on that, but the last couple times that happened (a somewhat unofficial blackout of main news on a country), we had shooting wars.

There's a couple of things you have to remember about their "Ding-dong-2" missile....
    1. They've never successfully flown this type. Not once.
    2. It's liquid fueled. Once you fuel them...you either have to fire them or back-haul them for DE-fueling and maintenance. There's a clock on that. You can't keep them fueled for long. You also can't hide them once they're fueled. They stick out like a turd in a punch bowl...so they're easy to turn into a former missile threat.
    Outside a hardened silo?
You could almost do it with a pellet gun.
Even if this thing works as advertised...the only US dirt they can hit with it is either Alaska or Guam.
I'm not discounting the good people of either place HOWEVER (comma!).....
    3. The Dingdong-2 is on a mobile launcher and is inertially guided. That means that they "might" be able to strike a specific target if the "specific" target is the State of Alaska but I have my doubts about Guam.
    4. What's the payload capacity? I'm betting my beloved CPO coin that it's waaaaaaaaaay less than the volume or mass of their latest nuclear warhead. So....that means that the "N" is out of the NBC equation.
    Bio or Chemical?
Yeah...they "could"....."maybe" but the long standing US policy is clear WRT weapons of mass destruction.
My beloved POTUS may have a difficult relationship with the truth, but nobody is going to ever be able to accurately call him a wimp when it comes to green-lighting a SPEC-OP. ;)

Besides...that will be a great excuse to squash sequestration spending cuts..... :D
