I received "Hybrid System Overheat" warning light on a 10 mile drive last night @ 45 degrees F. I was 2 miles away from home so I drove slowly after I stopped for 15 minutes. When I got home and restarted the car, "Check Hybrid System" light is on. I've try to cycle it 3+ times and the warning light remained. This morning the light was still there so I brought it to the dealers, hopefully nothing is seriously wrong. My baby only has 3k miles on it:cry:

This is usually indicates a lack of coolant circulation in the Inverter coolant loop. Either the Inverter coolant pump has failed or there is air in the coolant loop and the pump has lost its priming fluid. If you put your Prius in "Ready" mode (In Park) and look at the coolant reservoir, you should see turbulence if the coolant is flowing.

I see, that doesn't sound too bad I guess. I hope they can fix it soon. I dropped it off at 7am, still no call at almost 2

They took the front apart and found a dent on the radiator. Coolant leak, replacement part comes in Tuesday. Hopefully can get it back same day. For now, I am getting spoiled by the loaner PIP:)

Yes, they said there is no way to know if I got it with the damage or not. So they will just bill Toyota for defective parts. I didn't even buy the car from them, I will be doing my services there from now on :) Thanks Toyota of Olympia.

That's interesting, you'd think there would be a low coolant indication like most cars have. Maybe the "overheat" is the indication lol.

Yeah, count your blessings, there have been a few members that had similar situations and the dealer wouldn't cover it.

One of the first things that bugged be after I picked up my Prius is that there is no coolant temperature gauge. It was especially worrisome since when we drove it home we were going to be climbing a lot of hills through Wyoming and the Black Hills region of South Dakota.

I still don't like the lack of these basic gauges, but others on the board have recommended the scangauge device which adds a lot more monitoring data to your ride.

I have the eco-route with my Garmin and the temp was normal @ 190F when I first pulled over. But I am glad the car is smart enough to tell me something was wrong before serious damages happened.

They are a smaller dealer, no fancy waiting area, espresso bar, or loaner IPAD. But, service is all that matters. I will be going there from now on:)

I'm such a noob, I keep on forgetting I have a hybrid now:ROFLMAO: even the tech told me yesterday.... in one ear out the other :notworthy:

I am checking out front mesh grills now. Do you guys think debris usually comes in the front or bounce from the bottom? I know they are totally random but I think the grill might help... + it looks pretty nice:D Would I have problems with air flow? It doesn't get too hot around here.

It is usually the AC condenser that get hurt by a stone since it is in front of the radiator (mine was). The mesh may protect that as well.
