I followed the link, and they even talk about magic carborators and hybrids
    Edison2 - Very Light Blog
They have very low rolling resistance and cd (.16), which is how they get most of the efficiency. If I read it right the car uses a 1 cylinder 250 cc e85 engine. They also thought about going hybrid and found that on very light vehicles (1000lbs) the extra weight hurts more than the regen braking on the epa city test. It makes sense at the prius's 3000 lb weight, and they graph that too.

    This thread is incomplete:
    • acetone - you really need to add a cup of 100% acetone to every tank. However, it requires a vehicle that is 20 years old. So the 2001 Prius has another 7 years to go before acetone will work.
    • gas line magnet - this aligns the hydrocarbons so it will vaporize instantly. Then the magnetized gas will seek out oxygen to throughly combine.
    • tornado vanes - by adding a twist to the air flowing into the manifold, the magnetized gas will spin around and like magnets with same poles together, they will shoot off seeking oxygen.
    • intake air temperature chip - this well known hack adjusts the control computer so the car will run a leaner mixture saving gas.
    • must use oiled-screen air filter - because the car is so much more efficient, a lower, restriction filter is needed so the car can get the extra air.
Here is the secret government web site that goes over all of this.

    GOOD LUCK!

Jeez Bob, don't do all of those at once or your car will generate so much gasoline you will have to keep stopping to drain it off.

Thanks for the link, that site is worth reading. It's not the usual pie in the sky BS, they actually do testing and exhibit an understanding of reality.

If I had enough knowledge and finesse about cars and mechanics , I'd probably just go buy a project car and start putting all these MPG mods in and never have to even buy a prius!

These days I THINK it's 17 years for patents.
It just feels like 10 years once all the R&D, engineering, testing, building, and marketing is done to actually sell the whatever-it-is.
I love the idea that they got their mileage going downhill, blueprius.

VW also has a two seater, allegedly coming out soon in Europe, a 2cyl diesel hybrid, said to use .9 liters of fuel for 100km, which would amount to over 200 mpg (European cycle--so probably less by EPA test). Won't be cheap (carbon fiber body, etc.), but it seems to be real.

It is no longer a tandem seater.

The Elio is, and it is claiming 89mpg highway.
