Is WalMart returning to a 'Made in America' policy?

Walmart and cheap China labor and American consumers are best friends.

 

The most recent data I found was 2009, and at that point US was the largest manufacturer in the world.

What I understand is that now due to Robotics in the manufacturing process being much cheaper, and many companies believing having manufacturing close to markets reducing transportation costs, the USA is experiencing a Manufacturing revival. I always thought we are a Service Economy.


However Walmart likes to sell cheap China made products. Can you blame them? There target audience is low price point consumers.

Correct, but the question I was answering was 'Is anything made in America?', (I used my hometown as an example) not 'Is anything sold in a Walmart made in America?' I think Walmart sells Milk and Beef from America, but those are mot made in quite the same sense.

Interestingly, Walmart does not sell ANY full sized appliances, US made or not.

Actually plenty of American beef is imported from other countries about 11% in 2008.

There is a Good chance Walmart is selling imported beef.

 

Maybe Walmart should sell more made in America products after this fiasco.

 

some people have likened viking appliances to say ferraris. awesome when performing, $$$ when not.

vikings built in the US, does that mean they're quality products? they're awfully expensive.
