Not be argumentative, but totally disagree with this statement. The reason the traffic flow rate is high is because the drivers are ignoring the law and chose to speed.
Like the driving a Prius, you could buck the trend and drive the speed limit. Just saying...

Maybe it's me, but in San Diego traffic is such when I drive to work and back home that speeding is just not available. It's usually stop go 30 stop go 30 stop etc. :)

I agree somewhat but don't die trying!

HWY 280 stretch is what I'm referring. It's a unique stretch that I have yet to seen duplicated. When people write poems about it and have yelp reviews for a freeway.. it's special.

I knew someone who made the same claim. I said how you swing that? Figuring he had some radar thing.

He said when i get pulled over you have my Sheriff badge on the passenger seat or dash. Works like a charm.

He said only kidding. Must be the car a 4 door Honda Accord

Oh, you will see a difference but you will never see the numbers the car can give if you were to drive it a little slower. To each his own. Arrive Alive!

My experience is that if you drive between 80 - 85 MPH on a flat highway in relatively cold weather of about 40-45 degrees, you will get about 35 MPG. This is on I5 between Sacramento and Los Angeles over Christmas. Add hills to that, and your MPG can drop another 5 MPG. This is on I15 between Las Vegas and Los Angeles over Christmas. Thus, my experience is that the Prius does not like the hills (as far as MPG goes). However, I think it handles the hills just fine, and much better than my Explorer.

Actually, I'm concerned about the safety of SFcyclist's on a highway where you're driving 80-90 MPH.

Check out the 9th post from the bottom of page.

I've stuck a flash drive into the USB and was able to play music in my 2012 Prius Two, but some files/folder did not show up, which can probably be explained by the posting in the link above.

Also back to OP, I am willing to bet that you will adjust your driving to accommodate the Prius and its MPG abilities. And this is not even in a bad way. Its not like you are forced to go sluggishly slow, the Prius is capable of going 80-90 without problems. It just makes cruising at safer lower speeds a lot more relaxing. Use the power gauge display instead of the other display modes; I found this a lot easier to use as a newb.

Yes it worked but like I said not all the files showed up. I didn't really look into it, but as explained in the link I gave you, it may be that each folder is limited to a certain max number of files. This is what I suspect was the issue because I was lazy and just transferred all the music into one folder within the flash drive.

Like others say, the Prius will definitely roll with traffic at 80 and you will still see much better mpg than the Sonata gave, but keep in mind that at that speed it will definitely not handle like the Sonata did on the stock wheels and tires, in case you ever need to do quick steering.

what is the posted limit ??? 75MPH then this is no big deal ... but at 50mph it is

I commute 25 each way around NYC the highest posted limit on my route is 50mph but mostly 30mph city limit... speeding tickets are given out often almost every morning I see cars pulled over both by marked and unmarked cop's car. Around here it is expensive being caught ... there are known spots and I think they do rolling radars I do not know how that works, but totally civilian looking vehicles are used.

it depends on a variety of factors first of all filesystem ... you need the old FAT32 ... also the right file format depending on the head unit not sure what Prius can play I would check with the manual..

    some people managed it succesfully

I had no difficulty playing music from smartphone via blue tooth quality is OK only issue is that one bluetooth device can connect at once so the phone itself then out...

I think iPhone just works out of the box by plugging into usb so does iPod...

The OP says he drives 80-90. I agree it's not good for mpg but sometimes needed. Depending on conditions, I say it's often safer to stay with the flow.

In the Persona with the 17's, car is very stable though I have still not go past 75.. yet..

I drive 55 mph on my 80-mile round trip and get over 60 mpg in summer. Down to low 50's in winter.
