^ should have clarified: this punishment is reserved for violators that will never be released.

Incarnation for felons serving five years would not get this treatment.

Excellent point at the end. If the focus is on what works best for the larger population, then the resulting solutions may be what also works best for each prisoner. Definitely some should never be released, so what to do (or not do) with them will always be contentious.

You ought to know this already councilor.....but it's actually cheaper now to let him rot in prison.
I don’t want to see him turn into a federally funded jobs program for &^$%#@ sniveling, bed-wetting, bottom-feeding, attorneys. :(
Remember.....Tim McVeigh stopped his appeals and hastened his own ride on the needle because he found life on death row in Indiana wasn't worth fighting for.
    Something to think about….

He's not worth the cost of the alcohol swap (why the hell do they do that...anyway?)

Now.....if somebody wanted to kick him loose and use him as a chase-toy in the 2014 Boston Marathon??? :D
    Hey...
    What can I say?
I'm as base and sinful as many other human animals.

......I'd probably pop for a Pay-for-View ticket to watch THAT! :D

Reminds me of a prof that suggested televised gladiator matches with felons vs felons fighting to the death.

Ah yes...Guantanamo...the American Gulag where people charged with nothing, convicted of nothing are imprisoned for life...a stain on American honor. The terrorists ultimate win is for US to abandon its citizens civil rights making those who advocate it the terrorist's accomplices.

Posts like this warm my heart! :)
Of course....I got to spend 11 months in GTMO a few years back, so my views are a little more objective.
    No....I wore green.
    The other folks wore orange.
Whether or not the place is a "stain on American honor" is of course open to debate. If you knew a little more about what you were talking about you would have worded your rant a little more accurately, but accuracy obviously isn’t the top turd in your pile.
    Me?
I sleep pretty good at night.

Whether you like Dubbaya or GTMO, or neither you have to admit that the detention facility must be highly effective.
Either that or the current administration is somewhat hypocritical..... :)
    Can't be both---huh?
    Either way?
    Win-Win. :)
One of the reasons that I give my current CinC a B+ in Ferin Policy is that he’s got the testicular fortitude to tell the bed-wetting libs in his party to STFU when it comes to things like National Security.
I’m not one of those “four legs good, two legs bad!” sheep who throw rocks at somebody just because they wear a blue tie or a red tie…..or… pantsuit.

    Just how I roll…. ;)

Maybe we are going to too much trouble to make execution so painless, condemned men use it as one last chance to taunt.

Texas inmate shouts 'Wow' during execution - U.S. News

Sorry, but dirtbags like this deserve some serious pain during their sentence - enough they won't think of spitting back.

I don't understand your quandary. I'm completely satisfied that he was removed from the gene pool. Whether he suffered, begged for mercy, made a smart arsed remark or went out with a smile on his face is totally irrelevant to me.

The anguish of anticipating execution for a very long time should be more than enough. If they can't feel that, I don't believe there is much else we can do to them without losing an important chunk of our own humanity.

^ part of the reason he was a dirtbag is the way he exited....most would be more serious.

But at least he doesn't get another chance to smart off or kill.

But to your question, whether he got life without parole or executed as he was, I want the penalty to be such the last thing he is going to do is be a smart a$$.

    From Oklahoma:

French has been attributed with famous last words before his death by electric chair: "How's this for your headline? 'French Fries'".[3

Reports are instead of suicide, the killed his cellmate so he could have the State of Oklahoma kill him.

Most of us on our deathbed (assuming our demise we have time to reflect) will regret things we wanted to do, things we wish we had not done, thing we wanted to do for others - that's what decent people do. What hisses me off about the Texas death row inmate being put down is exiting this world expressing joy about hurting others. Modifying my reply earlier, I'd just prefer the media not report his final epithet.

A few people have a birth defect that renders them incapable of feeling physical pain. No amount of torture can instill that kind of fear in them.

I strongly suspect something similar happens with mental pain and anguish. This guy may be in that category, and gets his only 'joy' from the anguish he can cause other people. In such a case, escalation doesn't hurt him, it only debases us. A better approach probably would have been sensory deprivation, preventing him from seeing or hearing any of the witnesses so he couldn't detect any response from them.
Very much agreed here. The glory only inspires others with similar tendencies.

Why dont we shoot one of them then while he is laying injured get the other to drive over him killing his own brother. Then leave the surviving brother in gaol and remind him daily that he ran over and killed his brother.

I have a hard time feeling any compassion for a terrorist. Eye for an eye. Death Penality is the way to go.

It shocks me that some have more compassion for the bomber but none for the victims and what they endure every day.

I haven't yet run into anyone here in the U.S. with more compassion for the bomber than for the victims. Where did you find them?

Fuzzy just my opinion but anything less than death penalty is compassion in my opinion.

    I'm sure some will disagree.

Eye for an eye for a cold blooded planned terrorist act with intent to Kill innocent people, killed a cop, a child, and 2 adults.

It may actually be more humane than 23.5 hours per day in a cell.

Again just my opinion. Everyone has one.

    That's your right.

    What's the prosecution gunning for?
