How can I clean my fuzzy center console cover/armrest? Whatever I tried (I don't recall) last time didn't help. Any suggestions, please?

Then I guess I need a nice, easily maintainable cover for it; suggestions?

The drivers' door armrest and seat also need cleaning and easily maintainable covers; suggestions, please?

To me, it looks like the fabric is or has been damaged in some way. But that is not the purpose of my post.

I recently used some "Tuff Stuff" to clean the console cover between the two front seats and also the left arm rest on the door along with the left hand seat where it was getting pretty dirty.

The only thing that I can say is this. It cleaned up Ok, but I can still smell the Tuff Stuff. I did the cleaning about four days ago.

If you try it, use a clean terry towel or a good micro fiber cloth. When I did ours, it looked streaked at first. After drying for a couple of hours, it started looking better. The following day I went over it with the terry towel again and smoothed out the surfaces.

Good luck to you, and I hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the recommendation, dorunron, I'll try it!

The fabric certainly is very dirty, I hope not so much so that it's damaged!

The cloth cover can be easily changed out to either vinyl or leather. My 2005 Prius did not have the option of leather seating back then. I had aftermarket leather installed. All door arm rests and center console were also covered. Not sure if arm rests and console are vinyl or leather. They have been easy to maintain over the years and still look new. You may look into changing out the cloth for something a bit more maintenance free.

I have a question regarding the current cover on the console. It has come unglued from the rear end of it and the cloth is sticking out. I'd like to re-glue it but can't figure out how to get the cover off to do so. Any ideas? I tried removing the screws on the hinge end but that didn't look like it was going to work so I stopped and thought I'd ask here. Thanks,
    Oh, it's an 06'

    Yep, I have to agree....

Judging from the picture I'd speculate you've past the point where cleaning is going to make too much of a difference. Looks worn more than just dirty.

But if it was me, the first thing I'd try would be cleaning just to see. I'd recommend water, mild soap, and a wet/dry shop vac. See what you can suction out of the fabric.

But if that doesn't work to satisfaction, it may be time to investigate local upholstery shops.

Wet Okoles make the best covers. Had mine for 6 years now still look new. Extremely tough.

Toyota makes a specific fabric cleaner that works better than any fabric cleaner in a store because I have tried them all to clean the driver's door armrest. The Toyota stuff worked the best and my armrest looks new.

It comes in a little spray can and is part of the ToyoGuard line. $6.95. Found in the dealer parts room.
The can says Toyoguard Interior Detailer.

Also comes in the Toyoguard kit:

As far as I know, the upholstered part snaps on and off from the sides. Grab hold and gently pull out while lifting up. As far as cleaning, your best bet is a 50 - 50 (clear) ammonia / water mix. I used this on the interior of the '08 Prius that I picked up last month. Mainly for the headliner, mats, carpeting, and rear cargo area as the seats are leather. Although the dealership did an OK job of prepping the car, I knew that I could do much better. The above mixture was able to take out ALL of the dirt and stains (which the dealership could not remove) and left the interior looking great with no odor remaining in the car. I would suggest that you use a spray bottle to apply the solution and a clean white cotton towel or old tee shirt to remove the dirt. Do not soak the area and rub gently. You will see how much dirt you are removing by what you see on the towel. As the towel gets dirty, rotate to a clean area. Good luck!:)
