'04 prius, bought it wrecked...fixed it to the point that i lost interest. it runs/drives, i've put...30 or 40 miles on it. everything seems ok. it has 187k miles, salvage oregon title.

it's a base model. was used by the state of oregon so i have full service history, nothing Major has been done to it (thats a good thing i think?) i start it every week and let it run a while to keep the battery's up.

it still needs: the center caps in the wheels are missing (see: tweakers), the drivers and passenger rear door panels arm rests are A. very dirty and B. loose/disconnected and need to be reattached, could be done with super glue, jb weld, or a plastic welder... center console lid is dirty. whole car needs a detailing, gas lid needs to be reattached (painted removed it to get paint matched), it's that fruity blue color (seaside pearl i think?) i think one of the marker lights needs to be fixed (right side), and it's missing the front grille (that goes towards the lower portion of the bumper).

obviously not perfect but, with a few hours of work it could be a cheap commuter...someday i'll get around to it. the price is $4000 Firm, and i mean firm. so please, spare me the offers. it is located in salem, or. (and yes, i have an identical prius)

xpcman: hole in the upper oil pan actually.

bisco: i don't see how that wasn't, it does nothing but hinder the sale of my item. admins on most forums would have deleted your comment.

roflwaffle: apparently Asking them to delete an old nullified ad, and them actually doing it....don't go hand in hand. :-/

i was just thinking of my own situation, sold my 04 a year ago with 100,000 on it. but different regions command different prices.

well honestly in oregon, the majority are poor, to a pathetic degree (because they are lazy and live off the government), so...selling anything here is tough. i'm from phoenix for the last 10yrs and, in phoenix this would sell in an Hour for my price..... here, not so much. i have $3875 into it just monetarily however, plus... probably 65-70hrs labor.

i have seen that on the antique car shows where people put more into it than they can sell it for. sometimes it's a labor of love. in the end, it's all about what the market will bear. out here, you can't give them away. i thought the west coast was better.

here salvage status doesn't effect the value (where as phoenix it's 50% of low book value), and low book is $4084 so, if i can just break even on the monetary input and lose on the labor...i could live with that.

That doesn't seem like a bad deal to me :) If you had caught me 2 weeks earlier and 1000 miles closer we'd both be happier right now...

i've thought about selling my '05 with 125k miles and using this one instead, but the other half of me is getting extremely bored with the prius line altogether...great commuters but, just nothing exciting at all.

I think you may need to come down on your price a bit more to sell, but if you are willing to keep then that's a good option too.

thanks for the insight? however have you ever seen a $3300 prius? or a dealer trying to sell one for $4570 as that lists? i sure haven't.

3800 will be the last drop, it can sit and turn into a yard ornament....a loss on my time is one thing, a loss on the green from my pocket is another, and it'll turn into green in my yard before i take that loss.

I've seen them around. They're rare as private sales because like you mentioned, most people will just keep the car as a back-up if they don't get the extra cash they want for it, or fix whatever is wrong with it (eg the door panels, clean it up, etc), and sell it for more.

They're pretty much impossible to see as a dealer, for the same reason. They'll fix it and sell it for more. On the flip side, I think it's somewhat unreasonable to let the car rot and loose a lot more than $500 a year oe few down the road, but I've seen some people do that too.

As someone born, raised and living in Oregon, and extremely proud of this state, I would hope you take yourself and your short sighted and unfounded stereotypes back to Phoenix.
