100,000 Mile Club

    UPDATE; 165,598 miles
    I am now averaging about 47 to 48 mpg so the all the repairs where very well worth the trouble. I will need change tires soon and will need to do a throttle body cleaning soon it looks pretty dirty in their. the only thing I do notice is sometimes while driving I will fell like a small jolt when driving not all the time but sometimes when the transaxle switches to just the engine. I hope it nothing serious . I just got a new job delivering auto parts so i'm driving around 200 to 250 miles Monday - Thursday and sometimes Friday and Saturdays to .I m wondering if that is to many miles for the car a day. willing to take suggestions and if anybody is having the little jolt and know what it is I would love if u let me know what it is or if its normal that will be great to know . will wait for replies

    Turned over 131K miles... averaging right around 44 - 47 mph, which I attribute to driving in pouring rain, at 65 mph, through the black hills, 112 miles per work day. And it's been kinda chilly.

    We've switched to filter changes with top-up at 5K, full oil change at 10K (Mobile1)

    191K 2004 base model. Scared me once about 16 months ago. the hybrid triangle came on leaving for work in the morning, took it to the shop and it ended up being the water pump that was under recall(again) Just had the original brakes replaced at 187k. they still had about 3mm left on them. had a fuel induction service done then and it killed my mileage. Went from low 40's to upper 30's(yeah i drive too fast)

    112K just reached

    2008 Prius, package 6. We bought this car 2.5 years ago with 37K miles on it. Still averaging 46 mpg (95% hwy) and the only repair has been the water pump under warranty. Getting ready to put new tires on it in the next few weeks.

    2006 with 137k miles on her. Battery fail Thursday last week. brokenhearted. I love this car, and can't believe the cash I'm going to have to put in to her, on tax day of all things!!

    Where are you located, there are lower cost options than the dealer and a new HV battery.

    That is a good plan. A ReInVolt will run just a bit over $2000 (I have one in my 2004 Prius). A reasonable dealer would charge about $3500 for a new HV battery. Good luck.

    Went 100k over last weekend. I get between 47-50 mpg's. Had two recent factory recalls done, also. I purchased it with 72k on in Sept 2011. It was a fleet car, so it was taken to Jiffylube. I saw all the records, but they wouldn't make me a copy.

    Today I just passed 100,000 miles in my Prius Base Model, Package#6. Other than routine service as outlined in the Toyota service schedule, this car has had no unscheduled maintenance.

    The only issues to date include a cracked shift knob (replaced under warranty), and the steering linkage recall. I'm kind of surprised that my car is not included in the inverter water pump recall, but my dealer tells me that I am good on that (perhaps I should verify with another dealer?). Some buttons on the steering wheel have quit working (info, recirc., and both front/rear defrost) ... but I can live without paying for diagnostics on that. The passenger side HID headlight is starting to periodically fail.

    Today, I dropped $800 on a brake fluid flush, ICE coolant flush, inverter coolant flush, air/cabin filter replacement, drive belt replacement, ICE water pump replacement, and oil/filter/rotation. Later this year, I will probably replace the 12V auxiliary battery with an Optima ... but I still have the OEM in there with no issues (it passed load testing today).

    At 120,000 I will change out the ATF, PCV, and spark plugs.

    It's been a great car since the day I bought it new. I do a mix of 50%/50% city/highway driving and average 51 MPG year-round (it is temperate in Sacramento). My wife, on the other hand ... well ... we'll just say that she averages less.

    All maintenance has been performed by Toyota dealer using Mobil 1 5W-30.

    Hoping to keep it for another 100,000 miles or 6 years ... whichever comes first.

    Have an 04 BC9 with 112K miles. Day in and day out I get 47MPG. Was just wondering is there a 100K mile club badge or sticker for Prius owners similar to MBenz old school grill badges?

    '07 Touring package - Just passed the 100,000 mile mark last month. Kept up with all the scheduled maintenance, changed tires, Toyota recall services. only unexpected work was one of the headlight going out early (maybe around 60k miles?). also left the interior lights on over a weekend and had to jump the battery. other then that, very surprised at how durable the Prius has been compared to my previous cars. it's primarily a commuter car (80% highway mileage) without carrying much "trunk junk" and I'm still getting about 49-50 mpg. not bad.

    I just purchased a 100k Prius, and it is fantastic! :)

    It has an immaculate service record, all recalls and services done in a timely fashion, always at either a Tucson, AZ Toyota dealer (where it was purchased new), or here at Capitol Toyota in Salem when it somehow arrived here in the NW.

    Both pumps replaced at around 70k (awesome) and its HIDs were factory replaced a little afterwards. There were only a few glaring cosmetic problems; cracked and melted weather stripping, and the notorious upper glovebox spring break. Other than that, this Prius is everything we wanted. I felt so fortunate when we found out it had VSC, Side Airbags, fog lights, and HID lights!

    Hey - long time - no speak.
    My 2006 silver Prius has 103,000 miles.
    Still runs like a top (whatever that means).

    It also is looking pretty ragged. The hood is all chipped up from winter driving in Maine.
    And the sides are scratched and dented from the parking garage.
    Pieces of car fall off - like the plastic passenger door threshold, the passenger mirror and the back of the driver side mirror.
    I think it deserves better. So I am going to get her looking better.

    Any suggestions outside of having the entire body repainted?

    I noticed a small jolt too sometimes. It always occurred on a certain stretch of road at 65 mph with cruise control on. The vehicle was transitioning between climbing a slight incline to coasting down a slight incline. I thought it must have been some kind of cruise control operational issue. I haven't noticed it anymore since cleaning my throttle body and MAF sensor. You might give that a try and see if it helps.

    Long-time lurker here, recently purchased my first Prius, a 2007 with 160K miles, option package #4.

    Was holding out for a 2006+ with less miles, but that was taking years ;-). I coined the phrase,"People drive a Prius like gas is free" due to almost every one I looked at (hundreds, either online or in person) having well over average annual miles. Plus I wanted one at a reasonable price, which was limiting me to older models, salvage or super high miles.

    I violated my own pre-sale inspection rule with this 07, as it was listed for sale at a very reasonable price, was a 1-owner who appeared honest and trustworthy and had been regularly maintained. It wasn't going to last long, so I made a cash offer after the test drive and asking a lot of questions, and it was a done deal. I kicked myself a bit for not doing the inspection, but it was time to take the plunge, either I was going to have one or be a frustrated non-owner.

    I had to keep it in my enclosed garage without driving for a couple weeks, due to being gone and waiting to sell my current car. I started it and briefly let it run a couple days ago, and it seemed to idle roughly. The next day when I took it to be registered/licensed, the check engine light was on and it still seemed to run roughly. I took it to an automotive parts store, they hooked their computer up to it and it showed 3 error codes of "multiple misfire", indicating a possible need for spark plug replacement/tuneup. Not too happy about that, but later in the day, I drove it on the Interstate about 45 miles, and the check engine light went off, so perhaps letting it sit for the couple weeks in an enclosed space without starting it messed it up a bit.

    Anyway, with a 400+-page owner's manual and all these forums, I have much to learn. One quick newbie question: when I park it in my garage (overnight or temporarily), is it okay to leave the fob plugged in, or if not, remove it and place it on the passenger seat? Or should I take it inside the house? Overnight the garage door is always shut. Obviously it's a security issue during the day with the garage door open, but I was wondering if that affected any of the car's systems, like charging, electrical, etc., leaving it plugged in.

    Glad to finally be a member of "the club", looking forward to learning...and driving!

    Welcome to PC and I hope you will enjoy your newly-acquired 2007.

    It is certainly possible that the original equipment iridium spark plugs were not replaced at 120K miles. This is not a big deal, and when you have the plugs replaced please make sure that only the correct NGK or Denso plugs are installed (as listed in the owner's manual.)

    I assume you have the Smart fob since your car has option pkg #4. Keep the fob at least 15 feet away from the Prius when not in use. The reason for that is that if the fob is in close proximity, unneeded 12V battery drain will result from the car communicating with the fob.
