I woke up this morning to a strange sound under the vehicle when I drove it. I poked my head underneath only to see that the oil change door is completely gone and the main cover is holding on by only a couple of anchors. There was a piece that was ripped and dragging the pavement that was responsible for the scraping noise. Anyway, I have been doing research regarding replacement parts and came across the following: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2010/toyota/prius/body_mechanical_-ar-_trim/lower_engine_cover.html Has anyone purchased part number 30440-04057579? For $40.38, it is about 1/4 the price of OEM, but I wonder if you get what you pay for? If nobody has purchased this this maybe I should and report back on the quality of construction and fitment.

I love our Prius, but with no clearance the engine undercovers sure do take a beating.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Before you buy anything, check out this above mentioned TSB, maybe you can get the dealer to fix it under this noted issue, if not some on here of got the dealer to do under a "good will" gesture when complaining to management.....worth a try , but I am sure others on here have had the same issue.....Just a FYI......maybe someone who had this TSB done can sound off.....

You probably do get what you pay for, but for $41, it might be worth a shot. It doesn't look like it comes with any insulation like the OEM version, and I can imagine the plastic itself being on the thin side.

You have my permission to go ahead and buy it (;)). Let us know if it's worth it.

I saw that TSB and figured since we put 45,000 miles on it last year and it now has 84K total, that it wouldn't qualify. I'm not really good at harping on business' either. Having said that, though, I am not very happy that the dealership never mentioned the under cover condition when they changed the oil. Judging by the condition it didn't just happen and they changed the oil 5 times.

Are there any posts that advise how to replace the undercover, i.e. where the different clips go and how to install them?
