I am considering modding my headlamps to include retrofit for HIDs, maybe leds, and paint. Before I go and remove from my car, bake, paint, and somewhere along the line mess things up, I rather buy another pair and keep the stock ones as backup.

I see them priced anywhere from $260 - $600 a pair. Obviously, I want the cheapest without compromising quality; therefore where is a good reputable place to buy?

There's a lot of threads about this on this forum. from what I read and hopefully you'll find, the stock projectors are not bad at all. The cut off can be improved but adding HID's to stock projector are ok. There's photos of this as well and the bleed from HID don't appear to be blinding at all. What's missing even from a retrofit are auto-leveler's. So even with retro, it's still not "legal".

I know the threads. I meant to ask where do people buy their parts?

    Is a rockautos.com reliable?
    How about 1aauto.com?
Any other sites out there that ppl here can vouch?

    Cheers!

I have done numerous retrofits. I always buy a spare housing so that I am not rushed, after learning the hard way with my very 1st retrofit many years ago.

eBay is your friend. I either

    1) buy brand new OE housings and use those for the retrofit
    2) buy crappy housings, either chinese or OEM, put those on the car while retrofitting the OE housings
    3) buy new chinese housings, rip out all the guts and use the plastic base for the retrofit

Rockauto is one of my favorites for replacement parts. Do a search and you can find a 5% off coupon.
