Just do what my FIL used to do driving across Texas; he always had a six pack of beer he would be drinking but brought a jar (with lid) to use instead of stopping at rest stops. Ah, the good ol days. But drove his wife crazy.

Here is a 66.1mpg tank.

I do mild hypermiling. P&G at times toward red lights. I drive 55MPH +/- 5mph on the freeway but can hit 70mph on down hill glides. 50MPH or less if they are steep going up hill on freeways. I use regen only when I have to but try to get the best absorption with a long slow stop.

This was my last tank in now Spring time.

My wheels are the optional 195/50/16 set a 44psi F + 41psi R. Tires at the El400 S2

 

Here's my submission, 63.1 MPG with a Prius C3. Refueling in the morning so I don't know what the actual was yet.



- 100% city mileage to and from work as well as deliveries. Overall very harsh conditions, lots of deliveries in the middle of rush hour.

- P&G, laying off the breaks, maxing break regen. Ran a lot of miles on the battery, not as part of the techniques per say, but driving in a lot of 25-35 mph speed limit areas.

- Early May. Mostly 60-75 degree humid weather.

- OEM tires for the 15" alloy rims on the C3 (Goodyear Assurance?). Factory Psi 35/33.



First hybrid for me, it's only at 2500 miles, and I really just started practicing for better fuel efficiency on the previous tank. Mileage certainly increased noticeably after the 1500-1600 mile mark. Gonna add a few psi to the tires, hope that adds couple of mpg or at least makes it easier to keep up this kinda mpg on a regular basis. That car can certainly do 75+ mpg, I had plenty of trips in that range (longer trips in less congested conditions), but 63 mpg is way beyond what I had calculated for when I bought it (even if the actual is more like 60).

 

I'm always trying. I will make it back before the end of summer, you can count on that.

 

Once you start hypermiling and get the hang of it, 70+ is no problem.
I don't think there will be any top 20 mpg averages less than 70.0 mpg by the end of the summer.
So aim high, accelerate slowly, and keep a steady speed.

 

If I drive under 60 mph in warm weather with dry roads I have no problem getting 60 MPG calculated. But,
driving 60-70 mph in real world conditions my last tank was 52.8 calculated

 

He'll add air to those tires and hopefully with some nice weather and traffic, he'll be back and in the top 15!

 

I'll get good mileage, but I make more money burning a little extra gas and completing deliveries faster...time is money after all, at least in my current area of employment. Will give it another go in a couple of months, but I don't look forward to forgoing the A/C in the middle of the summer.

 

wait until you get a new tank and suddenly, you are at 68 mpg at 75 miles driven... oh the temptation!

 

I had a 2000 honda accord v6 before and my average mpg is around 21mpg highway and 18 city. I bought my Prius C4 around mid February of this year and i'm still learning about the hypermiling / P&G technique. I've read tips on PriusChat and watch video from the links that are posted on here. This is my 10th fill up on this and i'm getting a little better each time.

My commute are usually around 7:00am (to work) and 5:00 pm (going home). i live in Northern VA and usually the traffic here is pretty bad. Milage to work is 20 miles each way. There are some hills from work and home. I do a lot of short distance errands on the weekends and short trips to get lunch during work hour.

I use P&G technique mostly and a little bit of hypermiling when i get the opportunity to do so.

Time line of this tank is 5/6/2013 - 5/17/2013. Average Temp 40-50's in the morning and 63-70's during the commute home. I did get a day or 2 in the mid 80's (today).

Tires and Wheels are stock 15' alloy wheels. 36 psi in the front 34 in the rear.

 

Nice job, I live in northern va too and I can barely crack 60mpg. Are most of your drives under 30mph? Based on the 40% EV I would assume so.

 

My commute are mostly on 66 East bound in the morning. Speed is around 20-25mph average due to to heavy traffic flow and 66 West bound in the afternoon. Speed is around 30-35mph.

But i do travel on 495 toward Springfield to visit my parents daily and that is around 60-65mph. Those are usually 15 miles trip each way. I tend to use a lot of back roads to get to my house and coast on EV or use P&G once im off the highway.

When i first bought the C my average were around low to mid 50's per tank. But since beginning of April i get low 60's. I think that because the car is finally broking in and the weather is getting warmer.

 

That is pretty decent! add 3-4 more psi in the tires and you'll get a few more mpg s

P&G was the technique I used. Also in ECO mode. I tried getting behind a truck, but it did not help, in flack I had a drop in MPG. The best for me was to just use the terrain to your advantage. Pulsing down hills to gain speed to glide over the hill, pulsing to gain speed in the flat and gliding as long a possible until the speed was like 8 mph lower than pulse again. Uses everything.
