How are you guys getting these miles? I'm so disappointed! I can't get over 343 to a tank.

What mpg is that, and what are your driving conditions? Speed, traffic, city vs. highway, temperature, wind, precipitation, etc.

343 is awful. I can do that and still have 1/4 tank left. How many gallons do you refill when you pump?

Hmm, I'd think you should be getting 50-60 mpg at those temps. 343 mi./8.1 gal. = 42 mpg.

AC will hurt you a bit, especially if you're stopped a lot. It's difficult to figure out the problem unless we know all the driving conditions and your driving style, as the c is pretty sensitive to bad driving conditions and aggressive driving.

In a previous post, you mentioned that you were getting similar mpg at 70mph on a turnpike - 42 mpg at 70mpg is a bit lower than I'd expect, but not too far off. 42 mpg at 45 mph shouldn't happen except in adverse conditions.

If you went until the car was actually empty you should see over 400 miles... but that's still not great. I have gotten over 400 miles on every fill up except my first (395) and that was when I didn't know the car and the temps were in the 40s...

Set your tires pressures higher. I have mine 12 psi over place card to 44F & 41R.

Are accelerating in the green area of the ECO meter? Stay off the PWR area as much as possible.

Avoid running to red lights and hitting the brake the last moment. Anticipate light changes as much as you can using the walk and stop lights .

Drive slower on the freeway then the PSL if you can helps a lot.

I normally get 60mpg tanks with some basic hypermiling.

I usually wait until it starts blinking before I fill up. I'm so disappointed, I have been considering trading it in. I haven't used the meter much so I'll give that a whirl and keep it out of the pwr.

If you are getting this gas mileage in the PC, what car did you come from that you consider 42mpgs worth trading in for?

The eco meter should help. My guess is that you've been accelerating into the power range too much without noticing, or riding the gas pedal just enough that it avoids turning the ICE off and gliding in electric-only mode. Try turning on eco mode if you haven't already - it only changes pedal response and climate control, but it might help. Also, you haven't answered all the questions we've asked about your driving style/conditions - we want to help but can't pinpoint the problem unless we know the state of everything that makes the c finicky about getting really good mpg.

I got 365 miles to a tank... Sadly I live in South Florida and A/C is 100% running all the time as we are 90-100 all the time.. :-(

I put about 8.5-8.6 Gallons on that fillup.

and what MPGs were you running? add that mileage to your 365 to get how far you could have gone. The car has a 9.5 gallon tank.

Are you running with ECO mode on all the time? I do, and even with less than optimal highway conditions, my mileage is now up to about 55mpg (Silicon valley and mountains, 35% city driving, hills everywhere). I just got my best tank at 434.5 and that was at 2 bars cause I am a chicken...

Also, summer formula gas kicked in here around May 1, and temperatures are up also... and that improved things about 6-10% over what I was getting in March.

Picked up my Prius C today. Already logged over 100km, mixed city and highway. 3.8L/100km according to the computer, just shy of the 3.7L/100km combined rating.

An update, after 250km, 4.1L/100km. Amazing considering my wife just drives it like a normal car and we don't exactly live in the city.

Just bought the 2013 C 1. This weekend, drove it around town. Three trips or around 20 miles each, and got 50+ mpg, and we're still learning the car.

Sigh. First fill up showed 4.6L/100km, computers said 4L. That's too big a difference. I am blaming the dealer for not filling all the way up for now (the meter was full). My trip meter shows 4L again since last fill up, hopefully I get that on the next fill up.

Also, for some reason, I am not getting better mileage than my wife despite trying to pulse and glide. My wife steps on the gas even during down hill drives, yet we get similar mileage according to the computer.
