Sokie Tech Hood Damper

    Just wanted to confirm that those who installed this kit did not use the supplied washers and bolts. I checked a couple of pics on here and it looks like everyone used factory hardware, which I did too, but want to make sure that I didn't overlook something. Thanks.

    The install is very easy. Took me less than 10 mins.

    Just beware, if you installed a STB, grind down the STB bracket with a metal file. Otherwise it hit the hood damper.

    does it need to be filed down with the Cusco strut tower bar too ? I noticed that you have the tanabe one ?

    I feel as though this will most likely only be an issue for the Tanabe STB and not the Cusco. The Tanabe STB follows close to the edge of the fender.

    I can't confirm for certain since I don't have them... :)
    But from my mental comparison in the way the Cusco and Tanabe STBs fit in the engine bay, and the install pics of the damper in the thread below... I can only assume you would be without clearance issues between the Soooooookies and the Cusco.

    they don't recommend it...... but I'm using it on my CF hood... just need to be gentle in opening and closing the hood.....

    I believe there's a clear coat on it.... my hood hasn't faded yet... I have it for 3 yrs already and the car is parked under the sun the whole day......

    Just to let everyone know with '14 Prius that the installation requires a lot of trimming on the right side. I had to Dremel a bunch of plastic as the damper would sit on top of them causing the hood to not close flush on the right side. The right bracket also needed Dremel-ing so it doesn't push into one of the covers.

    I'll provide pictures or a video tomorrow if anyone is interested.

    Yup, same brand from eBay. Just looking at your pics, my 2014 looks like it has more plastic covers in that area. I'll go take pics and post them in a few.
