A friend from church is going to have left foot surgery next week and she and her husband only own cars with manual transmissions. (Rather strange given that they are both semi-retired.) I offered them the use of my Prius while her foot heals so she can work without relying on her husband to drive her everywhere. So the car goes in for its 30K service on Friday, a quick trip to Ohio on Saturday, and gets loaned out on Sunday. They assured me I'd have the car back in early July for our trip to the Virginia wedding of my fiancee's daughter.

Who would have thought those funny automatic transmissions would turn out to be so good.

They picked up the Prius today to borrow for the next month. I walked them through my tip sheet that covers starting, driving, parking, etc. He started driving off and she started driving down the driveway. When she reached the street she was stuck. She had put it in neutral instead of drive. Oops.

    An update:

I exchanged emails with the lady borrowing my Prius this week. To date, she hadn't driven the Prius yet because just as she was starting to feel like getting out, the Dr. removed her stitches and it hurts all over again. Like many of us folks who are a bit older, we still think our bodies can bounce back quickly like when we were young.

Of course, we had a spike in gas prices to over $4.00 here in MI and it took $73 to fill up my Ridgeline this week. Ouch! The only person enjoying the Prius is the lady's husband who's been driving it every few days just to keep the batteries charged, etc. Yeah, right...

My fiancee's sister is visiting from TN this coming week and wanted to borrow the Prius. My fiancee had to tell her no.
