I am planning to buy a 2013 Prius Persona SE. It does not come with a homelink transceiver with self adjusting mirror(which I have on my current Prius and love it). The dealer says he can install one. My question is : does it involve a complicated installation, difficult wiring and so on. I am puzzled that Toyota doesn't offer this as a factory installed option and I wonder if it would hurt the car if I have it done at the dealership? In other words, would it mess up something else? I would appreciate any helpful advice

It is offered from the factory on (I believe) the Four and the Five.

The only caveat is that the spoiler blocks a lot of the headlight glare and sometimes tends to hinder the operation of the self-dimming feature. If you current Prius is a Gen3 then you may already know that.

Thank you for the information. The Prius Persona that I am negotiating with my dealer is over a thousand dollars less than Prius four which does, as you correctly pointed out, have the homelink and autodim mirror. My question is: is there any difference between a factory installed homelink and autodim mirror vs having it installed by the dealer. Thanks

I paid nearly $500 to have one installed (could have shopped around for a better deal), but the Homelink feature is well worth it to me.
