The dust cap on my EVSE broke off the little plastic retaining strap. Is it possible to get a new cap with strap and install it on to the EVSE?

You could always trade in the car for a 2013.

looking at it today, i would say if you loosen the screws, the end of the strap will pop out and you can pop a new one in. should be available as a part. fyi, my L2 evse came without one, and i'm not sure you need it.

I want to remove that from mine, I never use it, and half the time it dangles against the car paint.

I checked on some of the on-line parts catalogs and didn't see the cover listed. Check with a dealer.

Never use mine either, and hate when it come off the hangers and dangles against cars paint....

Mine is inside garage though too.

Not sure I would even bother worrying about it.

The cap was made to attach to the cable, so just clip it on when it's not in use. When I use it at work, I lay it on top of the plug, so it's not hanging.

I don't call mine a dust cap so much as an anti-spider cap. They seem to like just about any opening.

I had mine permanently attached to the cable as well, to avoid touching the paint when plugged in. Definitely call your local dealer, they should be able to find out. Swapping out everything else attached to that dust cap with a Model S is not a bad idea tho ;)

Mine broke off a year ago, a week after I got the car. There was not a pn for the cap then, so Toyota gave me a whole new charging cord.

You can easily fabricate one, or go to the Hardware Store and find the same size.

I had also wondered when that would happen. Glad they have a part number. I do not use it since I use the charger indoors and they have a charging station at work.
